A/N: The fic that started it all! This was one of the very first scenes I dreamed up for Negan and Kate and it was perfect for @flames-bring-a-ton-of-ash’s Fall Into Negan challenge, which she hosted back in 2017. The feedback I got inspired me to tell the story from the beginning, so a huge shout out to everyone who commented back then. I’ve edited the original post to make the story fit better since it’s such a late chapter.  Also this time it is beta’d courtesy of @evansrogerskitten WC: 2282. 

At the end of the corridor, a woman screamed. Kate didn’t hear it over the volume of the music she was playing. Vincent Price was talking of grisly ghouls from every tomb while she bounced around her bedroom. She turned him down to answer a knock at the door. Pulling it open she jumped back in alarm - Ghostface was standing in the doorway, knife raised.

“Jesus Christ!”

It was morning. There was a patch of sunlight on the wall. So why was it so gloomy?

Curtains. There are curtains in here.

Kate closed her eyes, smiling and sinking her head back into the pillow. Waking up with Negan, his arms still wrapped around her, her strong back resting against his tattooed chest, felt so incredibly right.

Kate had worried that it would. But she wasn’t worried anymore.  

She shifted a little, starting to feel hot and uncomfortable with Negan so close. Kate wanted a little of this big bed to herself so she started to extract herself slowly from his embrace, only to feel him tighten his arms and pin her against him.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Negan purred, like some man-eating cat. Kate felt him nuzzle his nose into her curls, heard him inhale her scent.  

“Mmm, nowhere,” murmured Kate, stretching her legs out.

“That’s what I thought.”

Negan ran a big hand down her side, gently squeezing her ass and pushing forwards so she was half laying on her front. He littered kisses over her back and shoulder, pressing his hips against her. He was hard. Kate shuddered as his hand moved to the back of her thigh and stroked patterns up and down her soft skin.

Chapter 1 Chapter 2

The walls were closing in. Time ticked by and it seemed as if the square footage of the already tiny room was shrinking. Hour by hour the height of the room seemed to grow a little shorter, as if the ceiling were sliding down. Kate lay on the bed and stared up at it.

Fall in and crush me you bastard.

She had woken from that first sleep in a proper bed feeling good. There was water in a mini fridge that stood on the tiny counter next to a portable oven, one of those small deals with two ceramic burners on top. She found a wash bag in the nightstand and took it to the bathroom. Kate brushed her teeth and had a strip wash while Dwight lurked outside the door.

Back in her room she couldn’t find a comb so she patiently and methodically ran her fingers through the matted blonde curls that came to the base of her neck. Presently a woman brought her breakfast and a change of clothes. A charcoal-coloured long-sleeved tee and – joy unbounded- Miss Sixty jeans. Kate relished the feeling of putting on clean socks and underwear before trying the clothes on for size. Almost perfect.

The hell? They got a JC Penney out there?

Pleased with her appearance, she ate breakfast and waited for Simon, or whoever else had ordered that she be given new clothes.

But no one came.
