🎬Blog Introduction🎬

This is just a space I created for aspiring Black filmmakers or media enthusiasts where we can all interact and learn from one another. Even if you aren’t an aspiring filmmaker, you can still learn more about the field and hold discussions here

The purpose for this blog is to provide a space for Black people to share insight in the movie/tv industry, vent out frustrations with how media handles the image of the Black people, and share some filmmaking tips for those who may be interested to start out

Rules:
  • You don’t need to be Black as a requirement to interact with this blog but if I see any nonBlack people clown around I will call you out and block
  • DNI: Terfs/(Neo)nazis/MAPs/noMAPs/Anti-Antis/Pro-shippers/Anti-Sjw/Exclusionists
  • No hate speech of marginalized groups(I shouldn’t have to point this out but a lot of y’all are bold)
  • Don't go derailing some of these posts made by Black people talking specifically about Black-related issues. I'll call that out too
  • “nb ppl don’t interact”=non black ppl don’t interact. Sometimes I’ll forget to include this in the tags, but generally if a post contains slurs pertaining to Black people, or if it’s a serious discussion only for Black people to talk about amongst each other, don’t interact with the post if you aren’t Black

  • I might also make a separate post all together just to display and reply to your comment
  • Yes, we discuss about fandom spaces here as well. If it’s a way to interact with media, we’ll most likely cover it
  • Expect there to be arguments and hate thrown at this blog(yall know why)
  • Expect me to clown on White folks a lot here
  • Expect me to call out antiblackness from any group in general
  • No, you being Black/Black-mixed will not stop me from calling out the antiblackness and bigotry you set out(you know who you are)

trying to fight against the sexualization of women by sexualizing men doesn't work. when people make mods for video games where they turn the women into bimbos is because they have genuinely lust for them, but when people make mods to give cloud strife a tramp stamp is because they think it's funny. dungeon meshi senshi panty shots aren't fan service, they're jokes. they're trying to make a joke about how funny it is that they are showing this man's panties

worst is that putting a traditional macho hero in bikinis and giving them things that are traditionally associated with women isn't just a joke, it's a transmisogynistic joke. you're pointing at cloud strife with a tramp stamp and laughing at how funny it is that a man has one of these

Do you feel bored of the posts asking for help from Gaza? You’re right, but imagine our situation as we live this war day after day for 13 months. Do you think we’re tired too?!!
Asking for help is not easy; it’s very embarrassing, especially for a family that used to live a decent life. My husband and I completed our university education with distinction, worked in respectable jobs, and were used to helping others, not asking for help. But the war has turned our lives into a nightmare; we lost our home, our sources of income, and even our ability to provide the simplest of needs.
I'm Hanan. For the past 13 months, we have been struggling to get healthy food and medicine for my child, whose weak body was attacked by infection, and for my elderly mother-in-law, who fell into a coma for several days and almost lost her life due to anemia caused by our inability to provide healthy food, as prices have risen more than 10 times. Now, we have run out of everything. While you are reading my message, my family and I are trying to survive amidst all kinds of suffering.
What was once a beautiful dream and reality has now become a nightmare. Starvation is one thing, but starving, freezing, and being forced to flee in the middle of the night when tanks suddenly arrive in your area, running for your life and your family’s life under fire, leaving behind everything you built over the years, and returning after 5 months of suffering in displacement and tents to find that your home, where you lived your happiest moments, is nothing but rubble, is something completely different! 💔😓
Can you feel my broken heart now? Can you imagine what I’m going through at this moment? Everything I am living now cannot be described with words, and every moment here is filled with pain and fear. We desperately need your help, as we live in hope of escaping Gaza to save our lives and live safely away from the explosions.
You might feel powerless to stop this genocide, but you can certainly save my family. We appeal to your compassionate hearts to help us escape this catastrophe, which the human mind cannot even fathom.

You know what doesn't make sense about Stephen King using the "Indian burial ground" trope regarding the hotel. He also says that the hotel was made around the early 1900s and the builders had to "fight off" Natives protecting the grounds, but a lot of the tribes that traditionally lived in that area were plains or somewhat nomadic, and a lot of nomadic Tribes would hold funerals for dead bodies near where they died, leave the body there, and then any other nomadic tribes would know not to camp there until there was no trace of the body.

So how is it an "Ancient Indian burial" ground.... on top of a mountain? That isn't really a prime location for making camp (thus someone likely wouldn't have died there, nevermind it being a large graveyard) save for maybe like very specific circumstances. And King's story is insinuating there were still Natives there & still living very traditionally despite such practices being illegal. A lot of tribes were also displaced to Reservations at this point. This leaves us with several options for explanation:

  • The Overlook manager was full of shit & that wasn't actually a burial ground there but he's playing up the history of the hotel & that also explains the appropriation of Indigenous art within the hotel
  • The location of the Overlook hotel was not built on specifically a burial ground but the mountain & area itself held some kind of special cultural/spiritual significance to the tribes there, who likely protested in some way of the Overlook being built there because of that but not exactly in the way it was described
  • In King's world, there was a Native American reservation located there (& this would explain Native people living in such a weirdly specific area & wanting to defend it) that the Overlook hotel then trespassed on solely to build a hotel & this reservation is never brought up or elaborated upon but no longer exists
  • The builders of the Overlook happened upon a Nation of tribe/s living on that mountain that were still living traditionally as in pre-contact despite the U.S laws a la Last of the Dogmen & maybe there WAS a burial ground there because of that isolation but the Hotel management pushed this Indian Nation out solely to build a hotel

All of these explanations are crazy but the REAL answer is that King used faux Indian mysticism to explain why this hotel is cursed because of laziness & left it at that

I just want to hop on here to say that Black blogs suddenly disappeared in 2014 at the height of the Ferguson protests and when the organic, on the ground movement BLM started to take over because they couldn't possibly be anything else but "Russian psyops". This accelerated in 2016, for obvious reasons. And there are STILL accusations of Black accounts being Russians psyops bubbling up on Twitter from very respectable "journalists".
