ok so i’ve had some thoughts about bbc merlin recently with one of these thoughts being that we do not appreciate bradley james enough.

i feel like everyone goes on about how great colin morgan is (not that i disagree - he’s amazing too!) but the show would not be the same as it is without bradley james.

his comedic timing and playfulness alongside just enough vulnerability to make you feel sad for what could be a really unforgiving character.

HIS NUANCE.

ok i just kinda love bradley james as arthur but you get what i mean.

perfection.

never forget your roots

  • fanfiction.net before they removed the NC-17 stories
  • going to fanfiction.net at all
  • going to adultfanfiction.net in the fallout of the great “purge”
  • figuring out that ain’t nobody actually monitoring NC-17 stories there anyway so just rate it “M”
  • “please R&R! concrit appreciated!”
  • warning: lemon
  • though it may be more on the limey side of lemon
  • “summary sux just read it”
  • replying to reviews in the author’s notes
  • author’s notes in which the characters talk to each other and the author

"But 22 episodes is too much to binge in one session!"

Perhaps we should not consume our entertainment like an eating disorder.

Have something to look forward to every thurday for half a year. A week to build up excitement and theories between episodes (or to yk, be too busy to watch). Time to create art about it.

time to let things find their audience, time for fandoms to build up (time for fandoms to maintain their momentum)

My generations grew up watching the same TV show over the course of their entire school career. That's why Star Trek, for example, has such a large fanbase.

Seven seasons of Voyager means those characters accompanied me for seven years. That's why so many people are attached to shows and characters.

Maggie Smith was in so many memorable films of my youth, and I'm not talking about the Harry Potter franchise, as the series was still years off from being published into existence. No, I knew Maggie Smith from The Secret Garden, Hook, the Sister Act movies (not even to mention the odd televised airing of Clash of the Titans). I knew from my mother that she was a highly-regarded dramatic actress, noted especially for her Oscar-winning role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, but even after seeing her in period dramas like A Room with a View and Quartet, there was always little part of me that would still hear Mrs Medlock from The Secret Garden gasp "You could be clotting!" and I think in my heart that's always who she'll be to me. And god, I'll always love her for it. What a fucking legend. RIP Queen.

I often think about the first time that I met you. […] It was immediately apparent to me that I was meeting someone truly special and not just as an actor but as a person and that I was meeting a friend. A friend who would later go on to chop off both my legs and leave me for dead on the side of a volcano but I guess I kinda had that coming. — Hayden Christensen
