Firefly

Terzo and Cirice.

Cirice is another underrated character of the Ghost lore.

I used to consider her a concept, but I must admit that @blackbird5154 and her fics where she is a real character, inspired me to explore her and create my own vision of her. In this drawing she is about 10/11 with a 12/13 Terzo (I don’t know how to draw kids, but I like that terzo looks like a long triangle), and in the canon I used for The Third Law, she was abandoned at the Ministry at that age, possibly due to her hallucinations, and she has a passion for animals, especially insects. Terzo was fascinated by her, and he describes her in his own words under the cut:

As always, I thank @osirisiii-bc and @van-goghs-smoking-skull for their help with the translation. What a small text and how many problems! Thank you for still being with me despite my pedantry! <3

In the Heart of Thunder sounds so much like a long fic… am I right? What is it about?

Also I’m so happy you’re translating another story 🥳

It's a short one. My friends know I'm crazy about thunderstorms and other weather phenomena. And Terzo... he's like a thunderstorm in a human body, that's how I feel about him. So I just had no other choice but to write about sex in a thunderstorm 😌. In fact, fhe text is very complex and beautiful, there's a lot of magic and metaphysics. And this is TerCirice (I love this official pairing so much and I'm surprised that I'm the only one writing about it).

I was also inspired by the style of Chuck Palahniuk (he's one of my favourite authors) and a little bit of Vladimir Nabokov.

Thinking about the drum leitmotif in Cirice. The 'dun-dun' sound appearing throughout the song, you know. Imitating not only a thunder but also heartbeat, as it's always an eighth note.

When Papa asks 'Can you hear the rumble?' for the first time, the drum is not there. When he asks again, 'Can you hear the rumble that's calling?' it's there and at the foreground too, impossible not to hear. The thunder in your heart.

Perhaps it's always been there but you never realized until he told you to listen to it. Or maybe he only wants you to think it's there. Either way, you are paying attention now.

He extends his hand and you accept it.

Going further, at 2:14 there is a sudden change in the dynamic range. We only hear the piano, the drum (less prominent now), and Papa's voice. The minimalist instrumentalisation makes the whole experience feel very intimate. It feels as if Papa is speaking directly to you. There is no one else.

You are entwined together.

The verbiage he uses now further strengthens this feeling - you and I see eye to eye; now there is nothing between us, from now our merge is eternal. The words feel like a warm embrace, a comfort.

Except... he is manipulating you. Isolating you. Coercing you into forming this emotional bond.

Notice how the music constructs an emotional setting within this context when at around 3:20 a sudden dramatic break occurs. Papa asks, 'Can't you see that you're lost?' and almost all the music goes dead. This is what it feels like to be alone. No sound, no warm embrace, no comfort. Nothingness. 'Can't you see that you're lost without me?' This will be your life if you don't follow him.

But you will. Because he just convinced you there is no one else.
