It seems like evolution will never be free from Elias and Tyler
Seriously. And they're both so annoying. It also seems like Tyler is suddenly on the team for S18... Which makes no friggin sense considering (in real life) that would require him to go through the full FBI academy and stuff to get certified, etc.
I have said this so many times and I will keep on saying it: I WOULD RATHER THE AGENTS OF THE BAU (outside of Rossi) HAVE MORE SCREEN TIME than to add more characters. Especially when Voit and Tyler are white men.
All the screen time goes to Rossi and Voit already. I bet if Tyler is an SSA in S18, he'll get tons more screen time than any of the women 🙃
(can I ask you this?) why do you think think Elias is hard to stopped? Other than the writers trying to ensure he stays on the show for some time? Is he that smarter than what the BAU assumed or are the team just making bad actions when confronting him? They've stopped Foyet, Scratch and outsmarted Cat three times but suddenly they're stumped by Elias like he's the joker

I do NOT get why we've had to suffer through two (soon to be 3) entire seasons with him. Voit isn't some wildly different unsub. And I personally find his ongoing main character syndrome to be super boring to watch. One season would have been plenty.
Like you said. They've gone up against equal and worse unsubs than Voit.
At this point, I seriously believe the showrunners are keeping him bc so many fans think he's hot. We got rid of Reid only to immediately replace him with another generic white guy with messy hair and a high IQ.
It's like every Reid fan's dream. They finally get the bad boy version of Reid they've all been thirsting for all these years 😒🙄

I'm now watching Tara Lewis' first few episodes, and seeing Tara as a full-blown Forensic Psychologist is interesting.
Seeing Tara interview serial killers and her facility with them -- they really should have let Tara have a go with Voit after JJ struck out. She would know how to handle Voit's manipulations better than, IMO, Luke.
Not that Luke isn't smart -- he is but Voit got to his buttons way too fast. Tara wouldn't be that easy to push and she'd used that lever differently than Luke.
EXACTLY if anyone on the team was best equipped to handle Voit, it was TARA!!!!

I really love seeing more of the bureaucracy in Criminal Minds Evolution, I like seeing Emily tangle with Bailey and the Attorney General, and Rebecca Wilson as the legal liaison.
It's much better than the Barnes thing in season 13 because it's more grounded.
Emily first, tangles with an ambitious but green Deputy Director and sees the Section Chief laying out all of the unhinged BAU cases former Section Chief Erin Strauss has to justify to the AG.
I love seeing Emily tangle with the AG -- again, Emily hates politics with a passion but she's good at it and the more she climbs the FBI ladder, the more she has to play the game.
ALSO! I just noticed on rewatch, that Emily is posted up there right next to the Deputy Director Bailey in the Senior Staff hierarchy, and they're posted right below the Attorney General!
As the audience we never got to see the nuance and the political maneuverings Strauss had to do because she's not our point of-view character but because we watched Emily climb the ranks we get more of a perspective now!
And I honestly love it.
I honestly love this-- I love it when Prentiss does some questionable things but I also love it when she is kept accountable because she has to do some fancy footwork to keep BAU going.
I hope we see the Attorney General again.
