also i love that the phrase "piss on the poor" is functionally an effective shorthand on here for "someone has a lack of reading comprehension". wonder how long it will be before the knowledge that it is an intentional misapprehension of the phrase "piss poor" disappears and we get a Reader who says. the phrase piss on the poor is so cruel we should say something else
based on the notes of this post, which has gotten several thousand in the last day or so, we have in fact already reached this point

(Incidentally, "piss poor" is itself taken from the phrase "not a pot to piss in", which is itself a shortening of "not a pot to piss in or a window to throw it from", in reference to those so poor that they had neither home nor chamberpot. Isn't language fun?)

kind of interesting how the boop feature makes tumblr feel so much more active? like idk usually you see people reblogging stuff but you never know if that's a queue and you forget that there are real people behind the blogs. but if ur getting booped? somebody saw you and acknowledged your existence. wild.
the boops are like a pure instantiation of phatic expression and I'm really excited to have a new one!

to be clear, things like the "like" button are also phatic but the boops are phatic in a different way and I just think that's!!! cool!!!
i genuinely hope that boop day inspires everyone to interact more with other tumblr users. because it’s clearly way more fun this way!! even once the boop button is gone, there’s still asks, tag and ask games, comments, dms, fuck it let’s bring back blog rates i don’t care. part of the reason that tumblr is dying is that its way less social than it used to be. let’s fix that!!
