Do you like science and comics? This Saturday I'm joining a gaggle of writers and illustrators in Bellingham, Massachusetts to chat about science comics, sign books, and generally have a party!
Hawk morphs. Many bird species - and some other animals - come in several color patterns, or morphs.

I collaborated with amazing herpetologist Dr. David Steen on a comic about cottonmouth snakes. Read more here.
This month, we thought we’d make a comic for people who are just a little bit curious about birds. My dad grew up in a big city and he only knew these species as “the little brown ones” or “the big grey ones”. Here’s an intro to some of them!
My work is part of an exhibit of science comics at AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) headquarters, and there's a reception tomorrow! I'm so excited about this exhibit and its exploration of comics, science, and their connections.
Unfortunately, I can't be there (it's far from me, and I'm recovering from a bad cold.) But I'll be there in spirit. Picture a very benign spirit, hovering quietly near the crudités, whispering facts about vulture barf.

This week at YourWildCity.com: There’s a mass movement overhead, and if you listen closely on spring nights, you’ll hear it! Tiny birds with as much fat as a scoop of ice cream are winging their way from the tropics to northern forests.
Though they’re tough and fast, these birds get into trouble when they meet windows. Learn how to help at FLAP.org!
