My fun, history-filled guide to city pigeons, A Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching, has been out for almost two weeks. Thanks for the photos of pigeons, parrots, chickens, & pups reading it. I'm really grateful for your thoughts and encouragement, y'all!
Hi Tumblr friend! FYI, the best way to keep up with my work is through my mailing list, which is small, monthly, and I'm told is actually really fun to read (there's always an odd bird of the month).
Also, my fabulous Patrons also receive extra stuff, including blog posts explaining of each comic and showing progress pics.
Thank you so much for reading.
Spooky bird stories. Happy Halloween!
New whale dropped.
On July 16, a very special book comes out! It's my 3rd picture book, There Are No Ants in This Book. It's a thoroughly silly, thoroughly researched picture book about ants, and you should give it to any kid who's excited about the world around them. Preorder it wherever books are sold! I'm so proud of it.
Kirkus Reviews says, "this whimsical work will draw attention to some of the most diverse and successful creatures on the planet and perhaps leave younger readers more inclined to study these ubiquitous insects than step on them. Make room on the picnic blanket for this convivial gathering."
The sweet, hilarious art is by Anna Pirolli, who is amazing in every way.
Things I've spontaneously said to animals. Do you do this too? Mailing list: https://buttondown.email/rosemarymosco Patreon: www.patreon.com/birdandmoon
FYI my monthly newsletter, Flight Club, is short, funny, free, and contains a Weird Bird of the Month. Sign up here! I'm working on the next edition right now.
New comic: how to tell a Carpenter Bee from a Bumble Bee!
For the inside story behind each comic, support me on Patreon.
Thanks watchingbees.com for the help.
An older comic about appreciating snakes.
Something a little different. I lost my dad a little over a month ago. It's been therapeutic to make comics about the loss.
What city pigeons talk about.
Wood Frog. This year's Valentine's comic.
Here’s one trying to mate with a spotted sally from a survey I did in college 💛🖤🤎
Once they’re in amplexus (the gripping pose) they’re super tough to remove! I just let him do his thang. They only do external fertilization (same with the sallies) so nothing too “🤨” is going on here
That salamander is very unenthused about the whole thing
