I get this post but also I was taught that signal (which I think is fairly obvious by context in this case) as Left Turn and not specifically for bikes, but also for things like cars/trucks too old to have signals, or where your turn signal isn't working.

Idk if person who made the meme missed that, or if they're from a region where that's not standard, or if they've forgotten, or if they don't drive, but I hope they learn/figure it out if they are a driver cuz I very much understand that to be Useful Road Information especially for people who are gonna Drive Cars and therefore become potentially much more dangerous to the people around them.

These car ones are obviously specific to US/places where the driver sits on the left side of the vehicle and therefore only has their left arm visible, I presume there are other signals or they are mirrored in other places...

But yeah if you're going to drive a car it makes a lot of sense to be aware of all of that because it makes you safer to be around and it means you can get useful information from other people, like that series of bike signals there which might point out to you that there's a pothole that you'd rather not drive into. 👍

And coming from a place where there are not that many cyclists most of the time, I super appreciate it when the ones I do see are signaling adequately and following rules. 👌

Also, if you don't know what a standard pretty intuitive turn signal as used by other road users means, maybe you shouldn't be on the road? Even less, behind the wheel of a motor vehicle? Feels like that should be on some sort of test you have to take before they give you a licence to drive or something

i'm in regular contact with nour and i want to highlight the following: 1) her youngest daughter ghazal, who is only two years old, has developed a speech impediment from the trauma of this situation, and her 13 year-old son muhammad has developed an autoimmune issue from lack of sanitation, constant insect bites and exposure to unclean water, recurring illness, etc. 2) my friends recently sent money to help nour buy winter clothes for her children, the prices of which will knock out a lot of what she received due to high demand and low supply. the costs of food, medical treatment, etc. are still very high. 3) many of nour's extended family members benefit from these funds as well. these are people who were already poor before the war, and now they can't work. all they can do is find internet hotspots and ask for help. that's where we come in. if reading this distresses you, and if you're mad about tumblr deleting palestinians' accounts, the good news is that you're not helpless: even tiny donations make a difference.

Also this rise of tumblr users determined to call all gofundme’s a scam over the smallest details is so telling of the average person’s ability to have empathy and understand the lengths a person will go to to help their family survive. Yes, Gazans are making multiple accounts, they are sending asks relentlessly, they are copying templates/formats text posts from each other, they are giving extreme and explicit details of their suffering, they are using google translate to try to reach as many people as possible, but wouldn’t you do the same if it was your family you needed for raise money for survival for? How can you not understand where they’re coming from before jumping to calling them scammers?

Doaa is a teacher and a mother, and Zeina is her daughter in kindergarten. Their life, unfortunately, has been completely uprooted. They've been displaced more than five times. Doaa has contracted hepatitis, Zeina has had various ailments since their initial displacement.

Context: This is a grocery store in the town of Black Mountain, NC, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene. The police will not let anyone in to get food or clean water or even baby formula and diapers, not even if they have cash to pay. This is being framed as "stopping looters". This is apparently the best thing the cops have to do with their time, during a widespread emergency.

The store has no power - the food will rot anyway.
