Day 2: What if Ash Didn't Steal Misty's Bike?

Since I drew them dancing last year, I decided to switch the theme for Day 2 to a What If scenario. Honestly, it was pretty easy in concept as we know how much Misty immediately cared for Pikachu's wellbeing while giving Ash all the scolding he (more or less) deserved.

I imagine the conversation here is going something like:

Misty: "What in the world did you do to piss off all those Spearow?!"

Ash: "It's a long story! Let's just focus on getting away from them, alright??"

Misty: "Well, whatever you did, I hope you learned your lesson!"

Ash: "Yeah, yeah, I know!"

first crush

It was a lot of fun to be able to participate in Pokeshipping Week again! The last time I did it was a few years ago when I collaborated with my then best friend @echidnapower

Now, all these years later, he's my fiancé and we're collaborating again! We weren't able to do more than one day this year, but we wanted to be able to something no matter what!

Here we have Ash and Misty about to go out and dance during the grand opening party of the new Pallet Town Diner!

Day 1: First Date

I'll be honest, I'm actually still working on the themes even as I post this. 😅 Can't really explain why, but just letting everyone know that any tardiness on my part is something I take full accountability for. Forgive me!

First date is to an amusement park~! But whoops, looks like someone lost balance! Hopefully there's a first aid kit in that backpack of his, otherwise Ash will be dealing with a pretty bad sting~

Day Seven (7): Neverending Road

Changed this day’s theme too because the original theme felt too similar to Day 3′s, and my drawing for Day 3 already alludes to Misty in the PWC/WCS. Also, Neverending Road is a nice title for the last day’s theme.

And I feel like Ash and Misty’s relationship (platonic or otherwise) is something that will always be there no matter the change of direction for the show. We will continue to see them interact with each other and reaffirm that their friendship is something everlasting even if we only get to see it every few years. And thus, neverending road.

So, that’s it! The end to another year with Pokeshipping Week! Despite the craziness of this year, I’m glad that this event still went on and I got to be a part of it. Hopefully, the remainder of this year will go… smoothly and there will be hope at the end of this tunnel. Well wishes to everyone out there and I hope to do this again next year too!

Day Five (5): Studio Gh*bli AU

Decided to change this day’s theme just because I wanted to do the Studio Gh*bli AU theme more~ And I wasn’t sure where to take First Times, so…

I brainstormed with some of the lesser known (less popular?) works because I really like some of Gh*bli’s quieter films. Only Y*sterd*y, When M*rnie was Th*re, and Wh*sper of the H*art to name a few. Originally, I was going to do Only Y*sterd*y but due to time, I decided to change it to Wh*sper of the H*art as it was smaller scale. Initially, I didn’t want to go with a straight homage to the poster/cover for the film but I also didn’t want to spoil the movie for anyone who hasn’t seen it. So, hope this isn’t too boring~

Thinking, though, that if I get enough time I might do a bonus drawing to what I wanted to draw with Only Y*sterd*y in mind. It might be fun but like I said a lot of work. We’ll see~

(btw, the asterisks in the names are just so they don’t pop up in those tags. This post is more Pokemon than anything else, and I don’t want people who follow those tags get something only very tangentially related.)

Day Four (4): Pikachu Protecting Misty

Guess you could say it’s more Pikachu comforting Misty rather than protecting. But they almost go hand-in-hand, yeah?

Scenario that I had is where Misty and Pikachu get separated from everyone else from a rockslide and one of the last things Ash says to them is ‘look out for/protect each other’. But Misty has seemed to do most of the protecting than letting Pikachu have a chance to do the same. Will they ever escape this cold, dark rocky labyrinth? Aside from the usual zubat, are there larger threats afoot? Are Ash and the gang ever going to be reunited? … Can’t say since I didn’t come up with a fully fleshed out story aside from this premise.

There is no “Pikachu protecting only” in this relationship. One heart, one soul! Plus, it’s Pokeshipping Week, so Ash lends his hand, err, hands!

Late on tumblr, because I confused the dates, sorry… Also apologize for the very bad perspective. I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t get it. ^^; Let’s just say Ash is kneeling… *cough*

So I originally wasn’t planning on creating anything for this prompt (or any prompt after day two tbh), but I started doodling line art and, a couple days later, it turned into this.

Um, still have mixed feelings about it. I mostly lie it but also wonder if I played into some gross cliche? And I obviously haven’t had time to flesh out the idea in written format so this is it.

My thought for the concept is that Ash and Misty are battling, like, Rocket (or some other dastardly team) execs and one decides to play dirty and knocks Misty/her Pokemon out.

Ash is, obviously, at least briefly overwhelmed with fear/fury about this, leading to the above panel.

I referred to Misty as the “best friend” but maybe they’re more at this point? Who can say? Lol. Btw he gets her some immediate medical attention after the battle. And maybe there’s a quaint little heart-to-heart afterwards…

Day Three (3): Misty in Pokémon Journeys

So, just as a heads-up, I combined this theme and Day 7′s original theme together because I was at a bit of a loss in differentiating the two while keeping in line with how the show would handle another Misty appearance. So, here we are.

Gotta say, Pokémon Journeys’ art style is pretty adorable. It was fun drawing Misty in it. The details on the phone, though, not so much!
