Curtis stood on the front step of your house, waiting to be let in. He'd never gone in this way before, not even the first time. But he didn’t work for you anymore. He was the boyfriend now. A guest. So he'd play by the rules he'd always been so annoyed with Colin and Johnny and the like for flaunting. 

It only took a few minutes for Jensen to open the door. “Hey man,” he greeted warmly. “You know you don’t have to stand out here. Come on, get in.” Curtis followed Jake in, then stood somewhat awkwardly in the entryway. Luckily, Jake kept talking. “I should’ve texted you, but I was really sorry to hear how that whole thing went down. It wasn’t fair to either of you.”

Gahhhh!!!! I love how full circle this went. Some of the first signs of being uncomfortable that curtis clocked at the beginning came back around, but this time, that was voiced. I really am proud of the reader for doing what was best for her. I hope they get to live their best little private life starting with a nice little burger date.

I also loved seeing Curtis in the boyfriend role. Something he had looked down upon becoming his new reality in a positive light is interesting.

And it’s good that everyone is fired. They were definitely taking too many liberties with the control they were given. Am I the only one concerned about Jake’s job tho?👀

Ooooo so hot and flirty!! A handsome stranger indeed, but they’re both so charming!! I love it!! I expected him to be a grump but he’s actually so suave! And she’s got that careless allure. I’m gonna be thinking about this and what happened after for an embarrassingly long time 🫣🥵😍

You fruitlessly tug down your very short skirt as Holly talks at you. You’re both standing in the corner of the bar’s basement waiting for the night to start in earnest—your first night.

“Lloyd’s not so bad,” she says of your boss, the man who runs this little underground gambling ring. “You’ll have to split your tips with him at the end of the night, but he doesn’t take that much, and you’ll make enough that you won’t really notice. As long as you do that, he’ll mostly keep his hands to himself.”

You nod along, glancing at the mustachioed man conferring with the bouncer at the door. The interview process for this job had boiled down to a thorough once-over that’d made you feel naked in your jeans and t-shirt and a “You’re not too stupid to take a drink order, are you?” and then you had the job.

I cackled😂 I will be honest, though, that’s a jarring thing to find out, especially after seeing their true power. I know Holly was trying to be nice in warning Bambi, but she was never specific! Is it just because the power Curtis wields? Has Curtis taken advantage of women before? I can only assume that Bambi means much, much more to him than others ever have, though.

Andy’s calm, demanding presence stole my breath. So kind to Bambi. Of course he’s heard a boatload about her from Curtis. I admire the sort of partnership they have. Andy’s statement for Vinny to call was kinda hot…🫣👀 and then letting guard dog Curtis off the leash?🫠🤭

Why are these mean, rough, tough guys so panty-dropping? The softness and care in Curtis’s eyes mixed with his power and strength, especially in that smut was so😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 and so soft in the morning after🥺 yess, they both needed it and what a sweet reward

Yes- I need him. Or Andy. Being taken care of like that-revered that much- is a dream. 🥵😳🫠
