The SanSan Safe Haven

The Lannister twins are both kinda obsessed with Sandor Clegane.

The gods aren’t done with you yet.

Like… this would actually make a lot more sense than what is actually happening on the show. In both this scene and one in the next episode with the BwB, someone tells Sandor that he has some “greater purpose”… but 2 seasons later, there has literally been NO follow-up/payoff for this. He has contributed absolutely nothing of note narratively. He’s been just a common foot soldier, fighting for a cause he doesn’t appear to be in any way invested in. It honestly seems like he’s there simply because he has nothing better to do. He’s the Allison Reynolds of the Great War.

But if there was, say, a certain someone with whom he had previously connected, someone whom he repeatedly felt compelled to protect oftentimes at great personal risk, who was at the center of this conflict and whose home was under impending attack from a great threat… would not THAT be sufficient motivation for fighting this battle? To protect her once more? Not for any personal glory or reward, but simply because he cares about her that much? And especially because she is the de facto head of a Great House that is all that now stands between Westeros and the Apocalypse? Seems like a pretty damn good (and compelling) incentive to me…

But no, it is becoming clearer and clearer that Sandor’s only “great purpose” is to kill his brother. Because apparently that is something the gods really really care about. They just needed to spare Sandor’s life so he could kill this one dude who really has no bearing on the outcome of the War. I mean sure, Gregor is an abomination against nature but uhhhh so are the White Walkers and they seem a more pressing matter at the moment, no? 🙄

Master thief Sansa and rugged, hardened detective Sandor. Sansa has been stealing beautiful gems and art around for the world, tailed relentlessly by Detective Sandor and his special squadron. 

As they scrubbed her down with soap and sluiced warm water over her head, all she could see were the faces from the bailey. Knights are sworn to defend the weak, protect women, and fight for the right, but none of them did a thing. Only Ser Dontos had tried to help, and he was no longer a knight, no more than the Imp was, nor the Hound…the Hound hated knights…I hate them too, Sansa thought. They are no true knights, not one of them.
