I actually love that Ariel isn’t afraid to actually kill a villain if she has to. In the TV show she kills the Manta’s evil brain sponge by wrapping him up tight so he can’t even move, then crushes him to bits with a rock. Kind of brutal but it shows she’s one Disney princess you don’t mess with.

I've always loved this bit of animation, even as a kid. It packs so much personality in a short time and is just a delight to watch. Serious kudos to the storyboard/artists on this.

Does anyone remember this scene in the Little Mermaid cartoon where Ariel actually kills a bad guy? She tricks him first by talking him into attacking the Manta, then she has second thoughts so she subdues him, ties him up so he's helpless, then crushes him to smithereens with a boulder. For a Disney princess she can be brutal.
