“Tendou are you alright? You seem distracted.” Ushijima placed a hand on Tendou’s shoulder, “Even if it is a practice match, you should play as if it were a real game. Should I ask coach to switch you out?”
“N-no it’s fine Wakatoshi!” Tendou waved his hand dismissively, “Don’t mind me I was just looking for someone.”
“Alright, but I expect you to play to your full potential.”
“Yes sir!” Once again S/O had scrambled his usually cool-headed demeanor. So what if they had promised to make his game? Tendou would still play his best. He couldn’t let his silly crush distract him! He had priorities.
After concluding his inner pep talk, Tendou returned to his place on the court. And of course his silly little crush had just arrived.…! Once again frazzled, Tendou had managed to wave at S/O before the next play began.
Two successful sets later, Tendou found himself chugging his water bottle on his team’s bench. His team’s mandatory cooldown stretches were about to begin, and a certain someone was still on his mind.
“Tendou, congrats!!”
“Why if it isn’t S/O!” A large smile formed, “Thanks for coming, but it was only a practice match.”
“So what? You were awesome! If you weren’t so sweaty I’d give you a kiss.”
“Oh…well, wait.” Tendou’s cheeks tinged pink, “You could always do it when I’m not, y’know sweaty.”
“Hmm, I’ll have to think about it.” S/O motioned forward, pointing towards Tendou’s teammates stretches, “When you’re done there I’m treating us to ice cream! We can talk about that kiss then.”
Tendou dramatically rolled his eyes as he closed his water bottle, “I’m holding you to that.”

Tendou was a person who was rarely fazed. He had a flare for the dramatic, so his reactions were almost always staged. His genuine reactions were few and far between, so when he was caught off-guard he really was caught off-guard. However, whenever S/O was thrown into the picture, Tendou’s cool-headed nature was always shaken up.
Maybe that was why he liked them so much.
This case-scenario Tendou was lazing around the cafeteria. Practice had been as grueling as ever, so he and Ushijima had grabbed a late-night dinner. Ushijima had excused himself, and Tendou was left alone like always. There were a few stragglers wandering about in the area, but none of them were the kind to approach him.
“Tendou?” He had spoke too soon.
“Ohoho? If it isn’t dear ol’ S/O!” Tendou winked, “What brings you here?”
“I actually ran into Ushijima! He told me you were here.”
“Did you need something from me?”
“Nope!” S/O plopped themself across from Tendou, “I just wanted to see you.”
“…Really now? You sure you don’t conveniently need homework answers?”
S/O rolled their eyes, “That was one time…! I can’t have an intellectual conversation with my favorite middle blocker?”
“Well everyone always needs something if they talk to me.”
“Well damn…I guess I need a reason to talk to a guy I find cute.”
Tendou paused. He’d heard people call Ushijima cute, Semi too. Hell, he’s even heard some upperclass girls calling Goshiki cute! But he’d never ever, heard someone call him cute. Maybe he’d misheard?
“Haha, nice try! Ushijima’s the cute one not me. Anyone who thinks I’m cute might be a little nutty.”
“Hmph, just insult my taste in guys, it’s fine.” S/O pouted, and Tendou couldn’t help but think how cute they looked, “But why wouldn’t I like you? You’re funny and you have an adorable face!”
Tendou’s ears tinted red, he hadn’t misheard. S/O’s words were just too much for him.
“Oh? Are you blushing Tendou?? I could just kiss your little cheeks.” S/O reached across the table and jokingly pinched Tendou’s cheek.
Tendou’s cheeks continued to darken to match the shade of his hair. “I-I’m not sure what you’re talking about…” Was that all he had? What had happened to his usually sarcastic quips? He usually had an entire arsenal at his beck and call! Tendou couldn’t help but bury his face into his arms.
Tendou was now sure of it, this unprecedented behavior of S/O’s was exactly why he liked them so much.
