The Big Bi Lesbian/Gay Masterdoc!

I've finally created it! This is a huge Google Document with a focus on sharing mspec mono history (with sources). I will be adding onto the document as I discovered new information or as it's sent to me. PM me if you have any resources!

nobody, i repeat, nobody has any say on your identity and labels but you! you dont need to ask anyone for permission, and certainly dont let anyone try to make the decision for you!

"can i use this label if i-" yes! if you think the label describes you and your experiences for any reasons, use it!

labels are not boxes to organize ourselves into neat groups. theyre for expressing our lived experiences! to represent our communities and feelings!

we are not prescribed our labels if we check off certain boxes, we choose them based on what we want to share about ourselves and our lives! they can be as specific, vague, close-enough, unspecified, or anything else as we want them to!

language isnt static. we create language to best express ourselves, and can mold it into any form as we please, or scrap it and create something new to better fit us.

i get a lot of asks along the lines of "can i be a [various mix of identities]? is that valid/possible?" and i just have to say:

you NEVER have to ask someone else for permission for YOUR OWN identity!

i know it can help feeling validating for someone else to assure you about your labels, but no one can dictate what you can be! not even me! you can only find the answer for your labeling within yourself!

heres a little tip for how to tell if your identity is valid: does it help you describe yourself in a way that feels best for you? then congrats! its valid!

it doesnt matter if it could be confusing to others! or viewed as contradictory! or various other bullshit reasonings people will try to use against you! its your identity, so it making sense to you is all that matters!

to quote the wonderful marina in her song "ancient dreams in a modern land"-

we are not queer to conform!

Any attempt to draw a rigid line around and between LGBTQ+ identities will ultimately fail. Lesbians can have complex relationships with gender that include androgyny or masculinity. The line between lesbian and bisexual/otherwise mspec or gay and bisexual/otherwise mspec can get blurred and some people find their home in the grey area. There are asexual people who have sex and aromantic people who date and attraction that isn't quite platonic or romantic. Different mspec labels overlap and that's okay. There are men who are women and women who are men and you can't quite separate the two. People who exist right between feminine man and trans woman, or masculine woman and trans man. Queerness is messy and that's what makes it beautiful, so why try to draw lines when we could let the colors bleed into one another?

[Image Description: the meme of two arms embraced at the hand. White all caps text edited on the left arm reading “pan people”, on the locked hands reading “having a historic place in the community and being valid as fuck”, and on the right arm reading “mspec lesbians and gays”. End Description.]

some solidarity and love between pan people and mspec lesbians and gays is needed, because we’re both very hated and debated.

we are here. we have been here. we will always be here. loud, ignorant voices will not erase our history or place in the community.

much love to mspec lesbians and gays from this pansexual 💛💛

Anonymous asked:

hey would it be alright to identify as mspec lesbian/gay if im oriented aroace? like as an umbrella term or something? i’ve been wanting to do so but im not really sure if that’s something we can do

absolutely! im ace and arospec myself (unsure of all the specifics of my attraction, but think its mostly aesthetic? if not all? shrug) and im a bi lesbian, so hell yeah! if you feel accurately described with mspec lesbian/gay, then go for it!

I love female fags, male dykes, trans mtftms and ftmtfs. I adore genderqueer genderfreaks who fuck gender and hug eachother. A kiss to every bi lesbian, every asexual lesbian, every mspec gay guy married to his beard who he's in love with. A smile and a nod to all the incomprehensible degenerates who are holding hands when they get pelted with rocks on the street for being visible and a menace to society. I pour one out for all the faggot dykes, femme butches, agender aromatic asexuals, high femmes and stone butches. This one goes out to the freaks of nature who queer queerness and are left to martyrdom by those who should love them, you are loved by me.
