When Marty gets the Christmas gifts from his mom two weeks before the end of term, there’s a note telling him that, while he is so very missed, it’s best that he stays at the school over the holidays.

Marty feels guilty for being so relieved; he wanted to ask but didn’t know how.

He wanted to go back. Make sure she was okay.

But then he’d think about all the times she’d defended Biff and get mad.

The holidays weren’t bad in Switzerland. 

Lots of cocoa and gingerbread. 

A few others stayed, too, so he wasn’t alone. 

Just lonely.

Biff put his big desk between his bruised lackeys and himself. He thumbed his nose with a dangerously low laugh before pinning Skinhead, 3-D, and Match with an ominous glare.

“What the hell do I pay you for?”

“To be your security detail,” Match said, moving the icepack to his other black eye.

“Yeah, not to babysit,” 3-D said.

“I pay you to do what I say,” Biff said. “If that punk ain’t in the penthouse, you put him there.”

“We don’t get paid enough for this, Biff,” Skinhead said. “Look at us.”

“So just hit him over the head!”

Lorraine winced as Biff barged through the penthouse doors. The chandelier’s light shimmered on the sleek planes of his white-gold suit.

Lorraine looked down at her matching dress. She wanted to spill her Bloody Mary on it.

“Where are those kids of yours? Cameras’re waiting for a big family photo.”

“I sent them to boarding school.”

“What?”

He hadn’t shown his family man side to the press in a while, and she knew that. She knew that!

Biff paused. 

Maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

“Find out how much it is for ‘em to stay for summer.”

No Pines Marty staggered into Courthouse Square, gawking at the orange chaser lights shooting into the black sky above Biff’s Pleasure Paradise. 

A laugh leapt from him. 

“Good for you, man.”

Maybe Biff would put him up for the night since his house wasn’t his house right now –

“Hey! McFly!”

Marty turned at Needles’s voice, eyes igniting when Needles revved his motorcycle at him. A stream of others coursed around them like bees in a hive.

“Leech got Strickland good and riled up. You coming?”

Marty stared at him, smile curt.

“Is that the son of bitch with the AK-47?”

On Halloween, Biff’s casino was packed, but the museum was quiet. 

Marty stuffed eight cans of spray paint into his black bookbag, slung it over his shoulder, and snuck the guys in through the emergency exit. They’d trashed the museum a few times already, but Marty was going for broke tonight.

While Andy and Mick decapitated Buford Tannen’s wax statue and Steve keyed the De Luxe, Marty glared at the six-foot-tall mural of his mom and Biff’s wedding photo.

He turned up his Walkman. Took out a paint can.

I'm having lots of feels about Not Emma lately, and this picrew was used to bring her to life for the first time! I keep going back to notes about her and Not Marty's 1985A story, and maybe later this year, I'll look at making it happen!
