The UK is one of the most nature depleted places on earth.

They killed/hunted all their predators.

I don’t doubt for a second that those two things are related.

And yeah we should drag colonization into it because while the UK ranks the bottom 10% of countries protecting nature, natives can claim being responsible for protecting 80% of ALL biodiversity

Our genocides are necessary for them to attack nature the way they do. Without our blood being spilled it wouldn’t be possible.

Look at Palestine and Sudan and the DRC and how Turtle Island tribes treat pipelines over the Mississippi River.

I think of the UK every fucking day. It’s the blueprint for colonizers. They want to do that every else too.

The UK barely even has wildflowers. Gone in my grandma’s lifetime.

Colonizers in general hunt or kill everything to extinction and then when it’s on its last legs the UK exploits them as class markers.

What you can learn about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and it’s connection to human trafficking and pipelines in an afternoon will ruin you. And I won’t get into non;human things like elephant tusks being illegally trafficked.

There is no level of low colonizers haven’t reached because to colonize is to dehumanize everything that isn’t you. And if you have dehumanized something then you are not treating it humanely. You don’t care enough to.

Again, see how the indigenous populations are treated in the places I’ve mentioned.

It’s sick. Every one and every thing is simply there for the colonizer’s amusement and when it’s gone, well it didn’t really matter to them anyway because it wasn’t a colonizer like them. And they got a limited edition souvenir out of it. That’s what the struggle to stay alive is reduced to.

I keep coming back to wondering whether colonizers even like being human. They’re so fucking determined to destroy everything that makes life worth living just to feel better than everyone else. It’s like hierarchy is their reason for living no matter how shitty the quality of life is.

And for what? When they did all their human and flora and fauna genocides what will all that death and destruction have been for? What’s the endgame you know? Like even for them?

Will they brag about having the last dreg of fresh air? Fresh fruit? Fresh water? Kill and backstab each other just to be the last one alive?

What do they win?

Will an empty planet finally be enough?

The UK an colonialism in general are genuine horrors to me as a human being who doesn’t see the people & environment around me as things I can treat however I want.

I’m probably misremembering important details and i apologize.

There was a bird species, Great Auks i think. They were native to Newfoundland. They were valuable for their feathers or something. They were hunted to extinction. The man who killed the last one killed it in its nest, then smashed its eggs. He wanted to be the one who killed the last one. He explicitly said as much. He bragged about it.

There was a revolutionary leader in the Congo i wanna say in the 1980s, stood up to the Belgian colonizers. He was captured and killed by Belgian police. I’ll avoid going into detail but his remains were repatriated to the Congo relatively recently. And by “his remains,” i mean one of his teeth. Belgian police destroyed the rest, intentionally, and kept that as a trophy.

There was a revolutionary leader in Algeria. He was a psychologist, a therapist, before he was a revolutionary. French colonial police were among his patients. These police confided in him that beating and torturing and murdering Algerians made the idea of murdering their fellow French people, fellow colonizers, enter their minds and persist. Interrogators, torturers, began abusing their wives and they came to this man, not begging for forgiveness for what they had done to Algerians. No. They wrote off violence towards Algerians as ok. That just wanted to be able to turn off their desire to inflict pain around fellow colonizers. They wanted a switch installed in their brains, a switch that could flip them from ‘violent enforcer’ to ‘gentle and loving family man.’ they didn’t care about the scars they were making in Algeria. They just wanted to leave the scars on Algerians and no one else.

I can’t help but conclude that some people just have a hole where their heart should be, and they think by stealing what’s in everyone else’s hearts that void might be filled. They’re wrong. But they’ll never realize it or admit it.
