it was awesome! the gore, the horror, the religious motifs- all of it was great. very enjoyable and will definitely remember this one. also good to see a trans protagonist face an issue that isn’t just them being trans.

I’m not a gore and horror person and I didn’t realize that’s what the book was so it kinda scared me 😂 my bad tho

I do have a question, I was really confused on the like ughhhh the thing that made people turn people into monsters. I didn’t understand that could you explain it to me?

But I totally agree with the trans thing it was really cool

as far as i know, there was this virus (The Flood) that was released by the Angels (the christian death cult) to either kill everyone or turn them into monsters. the virus has the power to shift someone’s bone structure and muscles to make them into the twisted creatures we see in the book. if you get infected, you either die a painful death or are left in a state between living and dying in which you turn into a monster. multiple people that have been turned into monsters, especially if they were together when they “died”, can merge into a bigger monster. (we see this at the church). hope this helped!
