ok I’ve talked before about how, if you don’t want what you’re reading and kudosing on ao3 to be associated with you as an author or whatever that a lot of people have reading accounts that are seperate to the fics they post and I just came across a delightful example. I hope they don’t mind me pointing it out, but when I saw this on a fic today I let out the most delighted laugh
their account just has bookmarks on it, so I’m guessing that they just read on this account, leave reviews that are exactly what the times would say about books and bookmark shit. king shit.

Fandoms I write for: Currently, it’s the Bleach fandom, but I’m eyeing the DMBJ fandom, just waiting for a spark of Heihua inspiration. I always seems to lean in to the old, nostalgic fandoms it seems.
Side notes: 1) Recently found my old high school FFN account, and wow there was some really niche stuff there. 2) What fic have I written that isn’t self-indulgent? 3) I see fanfiction as less of a genre and more of, I guess, a different mode of writing, since it’s more of a phenomenon in response to a strict copyright system that we have today, and also you can fit a ton of different genres into fanfiction 4) I don’t necessarily need tea or coffee, but I need a drink of some sort! 5) Ah yes, rarepair hell is real. 6) Professional writer as in maybe publishing some short stories in a nice SFF magazine some day, not sure I’d want to do it full time.

Fanfiction is awesome as a hobby because despite its community’s MANY flaws, it is never something that risks being overrun by hot people. You just cannot host fanfiction hobbyist content on TikTok or Instagram while showing your entire face and body and get engagement based on how sexy you are and grow a following based on that. I would like to see someone try this. It would last for like 5 minutes and then implode into drama. Every other hobby on earth has basically been turned into a vanity exercise for engagement—woodworking, tattoo art, creative writing, painting, martial arts, DJing—or something that people with specialized skills argue about on reddit. They turned “being a leftist” into a beauty contest but they can’t turn “making Naruto and Sasuke fuck each other” into one. And I think that’s wonderful.
