Harry Clearwater's heart attack was because of seeing Victoria not seeing Leah shape shift like wtf Smeyer you already traumatized Leah enough now you're making her the reason why her dad is dead and the reason her brother shifted ???

it seems like re: new moon tropes you either gotta pick between jacob imprinting on bella in new moon OR bella going to volterra. where’s my angsty new moon au where bella and jacob are madly in love but when alice shows up bella knows she doesn’t want her ex to kill himself even if she has zero interest in getting back together. after all, all she’s got to do is show edward she isn’t dead and leave. alice can see the future for christsake! its not too dangerous and she does feel like she owes it to carlisle and esme and alice who were all so kind to her.

jacob can’t bear the thought of the love of his life going to mingle with leeches but she reassures him the only ones she’ll see are alice and edward according to the plan. when they fly back the whole pack is waiting at the airport and jacob has never been happier to see her in his life. the cullens stay gone but jacob and bella have to work through what they’ve gone through. it isn’t resolved until bella tries to save a victim of the newborns in a move that definitely would have gotten her killed but would have saved the poor sap they were eating and jacob realizes it was never about edward, it was about bella and who she fundamentally is. she couldn’t condemn her ex to die over a misunderstanding any more than she could ask her mother to be apart from phil

Crying thinking about Jake BEGGING Bella not to go to Volterra cause he thinks it’s likely the last time he will ever see her alive. All he did was fight for her. Could you imagine that tho? she is literally continuously trying to kill herself. he’s deeply concerned for her safety and well-being. this would be like saying Charlie is an incel, granted he knows nothing about what’s really going on and Jacob does. and people can’t use dumb excuses because Jacob has known Bella since he was a little kid. all Jacob ever did was try to keep her alive the whole series and he failed and it sucks because he narratively shouldn’t have. Bella was just acting like an irrational teenager thinking she should throw her life away for the first guy that shows her attention. honestly, Jacob acts way more mature than her in this regard. Edward literally left her knowing Laurent and Victoria were still alive, lol. if it weren’t for Jacob and the wolf pack, Bella would have died multiple times over.

i’m just so BITTER that we never got to see bella heal from the trauma of losing edward. there was never resolution, any conversation, just “i’ll stay this time” and she accepts it.

bella deserved to have time for herself, separated from edward’s memory. she should have had time to sever her connections from the supernatural world that she never was supposed to know about, and to rebuild positive connections to the human world around him. she should have had happy memories of bonfires on the beach with good friends, of game nights with charlie and billy and jacob, of studying with angela and ending up laughing over something ben said, of late night movies cuddled with jacob.

bella deserved to fall in love slowly, not all at once attracted by supernatural beauty. she deserved found family, ones that weren’t constantly arguing about and belittling her opinion concerning her morality. she deserved a friendship with leah, bonding over losing somebody they both loved, learning to heal and grow apart from it together.

bella deserved love. she deserved her mother’s care early on; she deserved charlie taking care of her in her teens. she deserved friends who were there for her during her depression. she deserved jacob’s warm laugh when she felt like crying, she deserved his kind words when she talked down on herself. she deserved his hand in hers, walking through sunlit parks, tanning with renee in jacksonville.

most of all, bella deserved a chance to tell edward that he hurt her irreparably, that she would never be the same. she deserved to let go of him, to rid herself forever of the monster who, ultimately, took her life.
