This is about a year and a half worth of progress with about 4 months of no dieting and working out (whoops). I’ve only got 20 lbs left until I am at my first goal weight. I never dreamt any of this was even possible. This Tumblr gave me the motivation to keep going. All of you are amazing.

Submitted by: banana157 I started to lose weight on March of 2019 weighing in at my heights recorded weight of 218 lbs for my then 5’4 frame. Currently at 163 and 5’5 and have a goal weight of 127-130. Looking at these pictures I don’t really see a difference but I know it’s there. I use to be a size 16 sometimes 18 and am now a size 10 sometimes 12. Hopefully I’ll get to 130 by the end of the year or before.

This is my progress so far, I’m yet to give up and hit my goal of 55kgs or under. Actually the scale doesn’t bother me, it’s more the confidence I’ll feel once I see the final touches and changes to my body. It’s not a temporary thing, it’s a lifestyle change.

——–

BAWL: ➡️ Yes it’s definitively better to track visible changes to the body (by look, specific clothing fit or tape measure), than to focus too heavily on the scale number.

The scale can be deceiving - it doesn’t tell you everything;  body weight does not take into account body composition, which is the ratio of fat to muscle in the body.

So even if you looked great at that weight in the past, it might not be a healthy weight for you to strive for now:

Your current and ideal body weight will fluctuate based on various factors such as age, lifestyle, water retention, muscle mass, digestion, bone density and hormonal changes.

Sure, body weight can serve as a  useful metric for tracking, but it’s important to recognize its limitations and focus on a broader range of health markers, such as:

  • nutrient-dense eating
  • regular physical activity
  • blood sugar levels
  • waist circumference
  • body composition (increasing lean mass)
  • sleep quality
  • stress levels

By prioritizing overall health and well-being, rather than just body weight, you may find that you’re able to achieve a healthier and more sustainable weight.

2016 - 2021 (maintaining to 2022)

Sw: 100kg+ (potentially 115kg)

Cw: 121lbs

Height: 5'1

I met my now husband and he taught me how to cook. I began walking every day just for fun and lost 15kg in like 3 months without realising. I began lifting small weights and doing yoga, learning about my food allergies which I had been ignoring, seeing a dietician to help my disordered eating (over and under eating) and in 2020 I finally managed to get to a stable weight and keep it after years of yoyoing and struggling with multiple eating disorders.

Just find a type of exercise you enjoy, cook home cooked meals and check your portions, eat veggies and drink water. You don't have to starve/eat gross food to lose weight.

A year ago, I made a resolution to lose weight and get fit. I weighed 170 and today, I weigh 132. It took me 5 months to lose all the weight and I’ve kept it off for 7 months now. I’m happy, healthy and I don’t desire to eat bad food after dieting and working out. The diet I used is called the Dukan Diet. It’s pretty awesome. I’m 5’8, by the way.

This is a weight loss of 83 pounds! What an achievement. Doesn’t she look extremely fit in the after photo? What do you think: if you knew her from before, would you recognize her now? I wouldn’t, that’s for sure!

Stop counting calories, stop stressing

UGW: Whatever makes me happy :)

I always felt really sluggish and down when I wasn’t eating well or exercising. Every night was a a binge and every morning I felt bad and gross. To lose my weight, I first changed my eating habits to be really strict (No meat, NO processed or denatured foods like sweets and cakes and no refined foods) I would always start my day with hot green tea and lemon juice, and then go do yoga. This was every other day. Three times a week I got up, drank a glass of water, and went running, no questions asked. I began with the couch to 5k program, which was really helpful to get fitness up. From there, I would run and walk for fifteen minutes to warm up and then for 30 minutes just keep running at a comfortable pace. Oh yeah, and LESS STRESS! Stress made me gain like nuts, so just chill out and dont worry, change will come. Took me like, 8 weeks.

So yeah, all it took was a clean diet, running three times a week in the mornings, and yoga every night and every other morning, just quickly if I didn’t have time.

Stop counting calories, stop stressing and ignore everything you have read, which I am sure are countless articles. Just trust the process. It isn’t rocket science.

Weight loss of 55 pounds

twentyonescreamingpeople submitted:

These are probably the best photos I have, sorry for the quality--

First pic is around August 2017. I got up to 200 pounds, and this March I decided to lose weight for my own health. The second pic is from earlier this month and I'm about 145 pounds now. 55 pounds in 7 months isn't too bad!!!

But here I am, walking, running, squatting, dead-lifting...

In the past I lost 44lbs. I used to run half marathons and I was training to run a full marathon. But then I got into a car accident. I crashed my car against a tree. The car caught fire and some guy got me out and 20 seconds later the car exploded. The doctors told me I could never walk again without getting an amputation. I didn't want an amputation and decided to get a surgery that saved my foot and ankle. The doctors didn't have much hope but I love to prove people wrong. I have had 13 surgeries in 3 years. Spend 1.5 year in a wheelchair which caused me to gain some weight back. But here I am, walking, running, squatting, deadlifting and doing so many things no doctor could have ever imagined. I still need to lose some weight but I'm working my ass off 6-7 times a week. I have physical therapy 2 times a week where I train legs, I have 1 personal training session in a week and the other days I train in the gym by myself💪

Healing from disordered eating behaviors.

50 pounds gone 🌟

moremercurial submitted:

 2017 > 2019

This weekend I officially hit 50 pounds lost from my highest weight, which was in fall 2017.

No surgeries, no keto, and no intense fitness regimen — this weight loss has come from healing from my disordered eating behaviors. While these are “before and after,” they’re also really “before and during.” I still have a ways to go before my very dysfunctional relationship with food is healed and I still aim to lose about 40-45 more pounds.

I have suffered from binge eating disorder since childhood as well as bulimia from age 16 to present. While I am in recovery and have made incredible progress, recovery is not linear. I have had to develop a lot of patience with myself in that respect. And, contrary to what many might think, it was at my heaviest that my disorder was at its worst — only through recovery and finding alternatives to coping with stress and caring for myself outside of food have I actually lost weight.

There is no “look” that people with eating disorders have. You never know who around you is suffering, so please be kind.
