Another song, another them.

A warning sign

I missed the good part, then I realised

I started looking and the bubble burst

I started looking for excuses

Come on in

I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in

I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones

That I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is

I miss you

Yeah, the truth is

That I miss you so

A warning sign

You came back to haunt me and I realised

That you were an island and I passed you by

And you were an island to discover

Come on in

I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in

I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones

That I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is

I miss you

Yeah, the truth is

That I miss you so

And I'm tired

I should not have let you go

So I crawl back into your open arms

Yes, I crawl back into your open arms

And I crawl back into your open arms

Yes, I crawl back into your open arms

It’s almost a year later but I don’t think the fandom has thought enough about Aziraphale tearfully confessing, “I need—I need you!” Fanfic ass line, 10/10

that's the exact line that broke me on my first watch, I can talk about it nonstop and oh i have done it

are you telling me this angel who has been saying things like "we dont know each other" "we are not friends" "well neither do i (need you)" for ages IS NOW SO SCARED OF LOSING HIS DEMON THAT HE SAYS IN THE MOST DEVASTATING WAY THAT HE DOES NEED HIM WHILE ALMOST CRYING??? UGH THE THINGS THIS DOES TO MY SANITY EVERY TIME I REMEMBER

I'll wait

I'll wait is the purest love of all. Because anyone can say "I love you", but how many can really wait? I'll wait is a promise. It's like saying, It doesn't matter where you go, where you are and when you are coming back. Because I am here for you. Because all I want is you. And so, I'll wait.

This was my first post for the ineffable fandom, back in November 2023.

I'm so proud of it.

Ineffable Brainrot Syndrome, as depicted above:

Warning: IBS is caused by watching S2E6 of Good Omens. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: crying, thinking about what it means to be human and the point of love, life the universe and everything, reading/writing copious amounts of fanfiction, spending hours mindlessly scrolling through Tumblr, pining, LOTS of pining, mild to severe obsessions with the actors David Tennant and Michael Sheen and their glorious love for one another on and off screen, devouring fan theories about Season Three, stalking Neil Gaiman, being unable to hear any piece of music without thinking of Them, falling apart any time you hear the words 'I forgive you' or ANY reference whatsoever to nightingales.

There is, currently, no cure.

I think somehow it feels natural to assume crowley tried to kiss or kissed aziraphale in 1941 and was shot down because it would endanger both their lives but what if. I mean what if it was aziraphale who made the first move what if it was crowley who had to break his own heart and aziraphale’s by turning him down

I wrote something kind of along those lines! Aziraphale still breaks Crowley's heart though. He's too conflicted about it all.

Would love to read Crowley turning him down. It would make for a hell of an angst ficlet.

My personal version features them getting drunk, Aziraphale initiating a kiss only to regret it at once because it’s too dangerous, Crowley saying “I forgive you” to soothe him and drunk Aziraphale replying “Don’t bother”.

And vavoom, final 15 sorted out 😆😆😆😆

A thing that frustrates me about being in the "Aziraphale was manipulated/made a sincerely misguided decision in the final fifteen" camp is that a lot of fans who agree with me on that point are way harder on him about it than I am, in ways that I don't think are fair at all.

A specific example of this is the numerous comments I've seen along the lines of "the final fifteen just shows that Aziraphale hasn't learned or grown at all in the last six thousand years," which I couldn't disagree with more.

I'm way too sick and fuzzy-headed to do a detailed deep dive into this right now, but the Aziraphale we meet before the beginning is saying things like "it's not our job to question the almighty on the details of creation," and "I don't think it's our place to start suggesting that there should be a suggestion box." And the Aziraphale we see in the final fifteen is talking about running Heaven himself, being able to make a difference if he's in charge. And we see him go through several intermediate stages between those two attitudes throughout history...even between season 1 and season 2!

Maybe you're someone who thinks that he hasn't learned enough, or that the lessons he's taken from his experiences haven't been the right ones, and sure, that's not unreasonable. (I don't completely agree with that assessment either, but I agree at least a little bit.) But to say that he hasn't changed or grown or learned a single thing in his millennia-long existence is just observably false.

I mean, Crowley wants to run away! Or maybe not, maybe his “go off together” is a gut reaction to Metatron’s proposal and he actually meant “being together”, even on Earth.

But knowing about Heaven’s plan for Armageddon 2.0 and wanting to run away to me is at least AS disappointing AS wanting to try and rule Heaven and try to make a difference.

Aziraphale’s fault is the “come with me as an angel” request, not his hope to go and make a difference. We don’t know yet if Aziraphale was guided by the misbelief that Crowley loved being an angel and making stars and the whole celestial thing. I mean, there’s a reason THAT is the first scene of season 2 and the final 15 are the final 15. These moments are connected!

For the “you’re the bad guys” thing, I see it more as something he said in a hurry, not as an insult. If he wants Crowley to be an angel again it’s also because he considers him pure of heart enough to get his angelic status back (for as much that is a terrible thing to ask of him, for which I hope he’s going to apologize sooner or later).

And the kiss…Well maybe it wasn’t a love kiss, more a desperate attempt to make him stay. But I see love there nonetheless 😅 Anyway, my hope is that Aziraphale forgives Crowley for the kiss because he thinks he’s tempting him to stay, and he doesn’t like it.

Hey, not even two seconds have passed after Crowley gets out of the bookshop and he’s already changed his mind…

Come on, how can you blame this cuddly cinnamon roll creature of pure love and joy?

How!!!???

All the times Crowley calls Aziraphale by name - Chronological order

A few considerations. 1) After the Ark encounter, Crowley does call Aziraphale mainly 'Angel' over the centuries (Bildad, 1793, 1827, 1862) with one exception: 1827, when Wee Morag is dying and Crowley needs the angel to realize it's too late to heal her. Which is a major clue to the fact that calling him 'Aziraphale' could be a term of endearment. 2) Which may or may not be confirmed by the drunken scene after the fire: when Crowley sees the angel almost as a ghost, he says 'Aziraphale' - not 'Angel'. 3) After the Ark, considering the plot up to Season 1, the name 'Aziraphale' comes out when Crowley is calling after delivering the Antichrist (very formal occasion) and when Crowley is scared and/or angered (where are you, you idiot) or annoyed (kick butts, shoot him), 4) The Lockdown scene starts with a very sarcastic Crowley scolding the angel because he obviously knows it's 'Aziraphale' calling (again, annoyed), but it ends with the most heavenly 'Goodnight, Angel' after realizing he can't see him, yet. 5) As for Season 2, Crowley NEVER directly calls Aziraphale by name when they are alone together (see the very satisfying aformentioned 'Angel' compilation); however, when he's talking with other angels and/or demons he uses his first name - which is most convenient since they are more vulnerable around them. 6) The Us time they never got still breaks me.

In conclusion, I totally agree with @justdecadentcollectiondestiny (read this): There's probably a very good reason why Crowley stops calling Aziraphale 'Angel' after the bookshop fire - at least he stops until everything is over with Adam and Satan. I'm also sure there's a reason why Crowley refers to him only as 'Angel' throughout the whole second season (*Cough - quiet and gentle and romantic omens - *Cough). He felt safe enough; it was the time he dared to hope that the precious, peaceful, fragile existence would really work.

Of course, this is mere speculation. But the use of the two different names has meaning. Once again, hail to Neil. The Goat. This perfectionism (intended or unintended) delivers perfectly, and you can totally perceive the rollercoaster of Crowley's feelings for Aziraphale, from Eden to You're better than that.
