Apart from Toy Surprise last scene, I think this is the only moment of truth between Miss Parker and her father.
You can see his pain is real, too.
[3.14 - At the Hour of Our Death]
Parker: I’d forgotten how beautiful it is. How did you get it? Jarod: An old friend of your mother’s. Parker: Father Moore. Jarod: He found the Rosary clutched in Faith’s hand. He knew how much it meant to your mother so he wanted me to give it to you. Parker: Thank you Jarod. Do you ever think about her? Jarod: I think about her all the time. It’s ironic too. Parker: What is? Jarod: All those years ago, you and I, we went searching for death and we found someone who saved our lives. Parker: I’m sure she was in that room with me. Jarod: And I’m sure she was with me up on that mountain. Parker: She said she would always be watching over me. Jarod: She was. Parker: Are we crazy? Jarod: I don’t know exactly what happened. But I do know that I’m sure of one thing. Parker: What? Jarod: Love transcends death. That the people we love touch our lives even after they’re gone. [3.14 - At the Hour of Our Death]
One of their best conversation.
As already mentioned for 3x09 (Murder 101), J and MP don’t talk about Centre business, they act just like two old friends, calling each other to talk about someone they lost years before but still love very much.
It’s nice to see them so sweet towards each other. They talk about Faith and their ‘near-death-experience’ and Miss Parker is really touched by Jarod's words (probably sweetest 'ADVICE-JARODISM' ever...).
Sydney: Yes. Thank you. Broots: Jarod? Sydney: They found him. Alive! [3.14 - At the Hour of Our Death]
I spend a couple of words to talk about Sydney.
I wonder how the old man didn't get an heart attack during this episode. His 'children' both fighting between life and death. Jarod missing on a mountain and Miss Parker dying in a hospital bed.
It doesn't surprise me that he's so relief when he finally gets the call announcing that Jarod had been found alive...His laugh is full joy...
And I love Broots looking at Miss Parker's room. Maybe he's wondering what Parker is going to say when she's told that Jarod was risking his life, too. :)
Nurse: Miss Parker. There are some people who would like to see you. Broots: Miss Parker. Hi! Mr Parker. Sydney: The Nurse called to let us know that you had regained consciousness and I thought you’d want this. Parker: Thank you both. Sydney: Broots. Broots: Guess we’ll see you later. [3.14 - At the Hour of Our Death]
FAMILY.
Oh, and one thing.
Maybe you didn't notice, but this whole scene has the same soundtrack that you can hear during MPJ conversation at Ocee's.
Just think about the almost kiss and you'll remember.
It's very touching. *_*
Young Jarod: Are you going to be alright? Young Parker: I think so. Where did she go? Young Jarod: I don’t know. At least she didn’t die alone. Young Parker: I wonder if we’ll ever see her again. Young Angelo: Have faith. Young Jarod: She said she’d always be watching over us. Young Parker: I miss her and I don’t even know who she was. [3.14 - At the Hour of Our Death]
Once again, I'm so glad and thankful to the authors for writing this episode.
After this, we really understand why adult Jarod doesn't disappear once and for all when he escapes from the Centre.
The strong connection he has with Miss Parker is something real and important, and after ATHOOD also the skeptics must admit that there's something between those two.
They'd been there for each other since they were kids, Jarod was always ready to console and help Miss Parker 'during the most difficult moments of her life'.
How can you possibly underestimate the MPJ otp?
You don't have to be a shipper to understand their relationship. And you can't deny it. They love each other.
Period.
Young Jarod: Are you okay? Young Parker: Yeah. I guess. Come on. Is she asleep? Young Angelo: Faith. Faith. Faith: Oh, hi. Did you see her? Young Parker: Who? Faith: My mommy. She was right here. Young Jarod: There’s no one here. Faith: I must have been dreaming. But it was so real. We were laughing and talking about what we were gonna to do, and I didn’t feel, you know, sick any more. Young Parker: How do you feel? Faith: Better since you got here. Young Parker: Here. It was my mom’s. It’s mine now. She said that I should hold it and think about her whenever I feel frightened or sad. You know it’s like I would feel her with me again. And before you know it I’m not frightened or lonely any more. It always makes me feel better. Faith: Thank you. Thank you for being my friend. I will always be your friend. I will always be there for you, watching you, just like my mommy. Young Jarod: She’s gone. Young Parker: No. No. Please no Faith, please don’t leave me. No. No. Please no, Faith. Please. Young Jarod: They’ll be here soon. Come on. Young Angelo: G...go. Another scene I'm particularly fond of.
As usual, Young Jarod is worried for MP and asks her if she's okay. He also gently strokes her back. This is something she would never allow him to do, as adults.
Adult Miss Parker is a very strong woman, she doesn't like feeling weak. But when she was younger, it looks like she loved being encouraged and comforted by Young Jarod. *_*
And at the end, when Faith dies, he's ready to drag her away with gentleness and care.
- Oh, I love these two kids... -
