Yep, you cane to the right place :) I've made a post like this before but it never hurts to make a new and improved one.
Moritz "Mo" Seider is currently the #1 NHL affiliated prospect in the league. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2019 with their 6th overall pick, and is presently playing in the SHL for Rögle BK, where he completely dominates the league when it comes to hits.
Moritz was born April 6th, 2001 (he turns 20 soon!!!!) in Zell, Germany. He was drafted from Adler Mannheim in the DEL, and a lot of people felt he went over drafted, but he recently said in an interview that his goal right now is to prove everyone wrong. Moritz plays defense and is presently projected to be Detroit's top pair guy, and many people project him playing in these next winter Olympics as well, as he's Germany's best defenseman presently and is considered one of their top 3 players (alongside, of course, Draisaitl and good friend/former teammate Tim Stützle).
Alright, now that the logistics are out of the way, his personality.
It can be sometimes hard to learn things about Moritz because a good majority of interviews with him are in German, and I've heard from a lot of German speakers that he's obviously better at expressing himself in German. But from what we do know about him, he's a really fun guy!!
Moritz is very outgoing, he loves being around people and making people laugh. In an interview once he described himself as very witty; he said that he's good at making people laugh but it needs to be in the heat of the moment and not planned ahead.
From his playing career so far, there are two notable friends that Moritz has had: Tim Stützle and Joe Veleno.
Moritz and Tim obviously grew up playing together (since they were about 14/15 is as far back as I could track, likely further). Moritz has said that he and Tim still talk and call regularly and that Tim knows he can call Mo if he ever has any questions or just needs to talk to someone. Moritz also said that when they were both in Germany, he and Tim would hang out a lot and either go to Mo's house and listen to music or just walk around downtown and talk. They're very good friends and very cute together on social media, usually being eachothers #1 fans. Oh, and Mo went to Tim's draft night in Berlin.
In Grand Rapids, Mo and Joe Veleno were roommates. There are some iconic moments between them, like Mo talking about how peanut butter changed his life. There's not much content between them, they're just average friends, but nonetheless it's fun to watch them in interviews or little videos together.
Despite Mo's very outgoing, loveable personality, he's also very thorough. He was captain at the 2019 WJC's for a reason. You can tell that he takes hockey very seriously and he gives genuine answers in interviews. One of my favorite interviews that featured him, Tim, Lukas Reichel, and Dominik Bokk featured the four of them being asked about BLM. It's unfortunately all in German, but a friend of mine translated it for me, and essentially Moritz spoke about how important the movement is and how it's important to talk about and for major sports leagues to get involved in. I was genuinely a bit amazed, because that's not something you hear a lot from hockey players, but it was very refreshing.
Also, here is a gif of the video where Moritz sang "Shake That Ass For Me" on the way out of the dressing room during the 2019 WJC's; very fun.
Of the four young Germans (Moritz, Tim, Lukas, Dominik) you can get kind of the sense that Mo is the mom friend sometimes? He's a fun guy and not at all boring, but he's just kind of assumed the role of "adult" amongst them (mostly because Dom doesn't talk much). It's really nice to see how much Tim and Lukas very obviously look up to him and are excited for his future in the NHL.
One of the things I like best about Mo is that he's very humble. He jokes and stuff, sure, but he's not a very cocky person and doesn't assume the spotlight just because he wants attention. He's a genuine extrovert but doesn't toot his own horn too much. He seems just happy to be there and be involved, and he's quite professional and has the attitude and mindset of one, along with the work ethic, and that's what makes him great.
Moritz is expected to hopefully get called up to Detroit in the next year or so. A lot of people were unsure at first if he was actually going to be that good, but Yzerman knew what he was doing. His time in the SHL proved he'll be great, now we just have to wait to see. We do know one thing, though: red is definitely his color.
Extra: On a deleted Tiktok of his that is archived somewhere here on my blog, he essentially said "I'm baby". Moritz is, in fact, baby.
