Combining flawed yet well meaning fictional fathers into the ultimate dad
The beta legendary dogs are cooler than they have any right to be
Not really a full fakemon or regional variant, more of a redesign of Chinchou’s line. Anglerfish have some crazy sexual dimorphism so I thought it would be fun to incorporate that in the form of having the male attach to the lure of the female and trigger evolution
Flesh ribbons… who wore it best
Sir I think there might be something wrong with your dogs
Bulbasaur is a better design than Snivy, but Snivy is my smug bratty daughter whose only friends are books because she's alienated all her peers by acting better than them and makes introvert memes about how she's not like other girls and wears an "anti social social club" shirt
Sometimes I think of what my starters would think of my other starters. Particularly right now, thinking about an interaction between Empoleon and Fuecoco. what do you think the two would think of eachother?
I dunno. I guess I could see them going to the park together and getting smoothies after.
Ive seen someone claim starters become more anthro as they evolve because the more human they are, the more a human player can relate to them. Which like i can kiiiinda see what they mean but I think it’s a bad statement to take as gospel because there’s definitely a line where "animal with job" can still work as a creature but "basically a furry man" doesn’t
If I can relate to it as a human it's even more weird to raise it from a child, keep it in a little ball, and have it fight on command
edit: it works for the mystery dungeon series though.
Does Primarina count as a creature?
Primarina is like a nerdy theater girl who grew up to be a strong beautiful and confident woman she's not just a creature
But don't the water and grass types always stay as creatures? It was the fire types that seem to become more humanoid as they evolved.
My definition of "creature" is A. not (unnecessarily) humanoid and B. it doesn't look like it has a job.
Being strict, Gen 4's torterra is the last true "creature". Serperior and Samurott aren't strict bipeds but they're obviously based on french royalty and samurai, respectively, (they have jobs) which makes it hard to buy them as a species.
Blazekien doesn't really have a specific "job" other than... Martial Arts guy but it's just way too humanoid to be an animal for a Pokemon based on a rooster.
just because I don't think something fits into it doesn't mean I think it's a bad design. Serperior and Greninja are some of my favorites. I just think those more character-like designs have a time and place, and don't work as well as starter 'mons, which are most appealing as cute but somewhat blank slates for the player to project onto or view as a pet/buddy/single special member of a species. I'm not gonna be legitimately upset either way, if the final designs are really unappealing there’s always the entire rest of the dex
On a more serious note I really hope that the new Pokemon games reference Spain's incredible biodiversity of terrestrial isopods
Gamefreak please give us some starters that stay Creatures
Line of cactus scorpion/euryptid fakemon! Designed because I think it’s a darn shame there’s no invertebrate starters in Pokemon. I imagine them bug/grass but the final evo would probably have a few water-type moves up its sleeve...
Doing a bug type run in pokemon sword, so some art of my team so far!
just mudkip
playing the catchup game so this one’s a quickie.
Pokecember: Favorite flying type!
