I don't know if anyone's posted anything like this, but like and/or reblog if you feel that online relationships can be just as fulfilling as in-person relationships.
“Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it’s not because they enjoy solitude. It’s because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.”
— Jodi Picoult
I'm not a big Jodi Picoult fan, but this really resonated with me.
In other news, I've decided to give up on romance, relationships and stuff like that. Seriously, it's too much trouble for too little gain. I'll still continue to write romance stories, though.
An addendum to my previous post: in spite of my anger regarding the value that society places on relationships, I don't mind writing stories about people in relationships, regardless of whether or not sex is involved.
I'm going to be brutally honest: I don't mind being in a relationship with somebody, but I'm so fuckin' pissed off by the fact that society places so much value on relationships, sex and all that. I feel that it's negatively impacted my self-esteem. I've only ever managed to be in one relationship, and I broke it off because I found it really unfulfilling after a while. Don't get me wrong, the person I was with was a nice person, and I liked her, but she just wasn't what I was looking for. Seriously, why can't people fuckin' accept that there are people who are happier being single than being in a committed yet unfulfilling relationship?
