Here's another Sonic headcanon about Shadow: Shadow loves most of Metallica's albums. However, he feels that The Black Album, while pretty good, was dumbed down for mainstream audiences. He hates Load, Reload and St. Anger, but he thinks Garage, Inc. is all right. As for Death Magnetic and Hardwired... to Self-Destruct, he feels those two are a fine return to Metallica's roots, if not on the same level as their 80s stuff.

So today, I had a shitty day at work, but then I got an original Megaforce Records pressing of Metallica’s 1983 album Kill ‘Em All in the mail today, and that made things better. Not only was there not a weak song on that album, but it played very well, barring what sounded like a couple of pops on “Phantom Lord”. Black Sabbath and Ozzy will always be the kings of metal to me, but Metallica did what few - if any - other metal bands were doing in the early 80s.
