THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS: SONIC 2 TRAILER AND SONIC FRONTIERS
OK, so last night, I saw the trailer for the second Sonic movie, and I am P-U-M-P-E-D. Overall, this looks like it might be just as awesome as - if not more awesome than - the first. I was surprised to hear that Colleen O'Shaughnessey is returning to voice Tails, and I thought Idris Elba had an interesting take on Knuckles. I knew that he wasn't really gonna sound like Dan Green or Travis Willingham, but I was still quite surprised by what I heard. I'm also glad to see Jim Carrey returning as Robotnik/Eggman/whatever you wanna call him. I do, however, have one question: I read that this movie will have Knuckles trying to steal the Master Emerald, and WHY IN THE HOUSES OF THE HOLY IS RAD RED TRYING TO STEAL SOMETHING THAT HE'S BEEN ASSIGNED TO PROTECT!? That is...unless it's like Sonic the Hedgehog 3/Sonic & Knuckles where he was tricked by the Doctor.
Moving on, today I saw the trailer for Sonic Frontiers, and even if I didn't see actual gameplay footage, I'm also stoked for this one. Based on the limited info I have for it, it seems like it could be fun. Hell, Ian Flynn is writing for it, so I wonder if this'll tie into the IDW comics. Regardless, it's nice to see a comic writer writing for one of the games. My only concern is that it'll be just another one of those Sonic games that perpetuates the stereotype of fans getting hyped for the game only to be let down when it actually gets released. Then again, I'm not too concerned because in spite of the criticism it garnered, I genuinely enjoyed Sonic Forces. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to video games, and to me, Forces succeeded in giving me that experience of "blue hedgehog runs fast and destroys enemy robots". Then again, I'm also that kind of Sonic fan who doesn't care what others think. Hell, I write Sonic fics where disco music is still alive and the cast fights a country that's equivalent to the Soviet Union when they're not fighting that egg-obsessed Doctor.
