I was half-expecting the second part to say "baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me no more." Still, Alphaville is my favorite Jean-Luc Godard movie of all time, not just because I like the plot and the characters, but also because stylistically, the movie feels like it invented some of the tropes I see in my favorite 70s/80s action movies. I'm not usually a fan of remakes, but I feel like a remake that deals with more contemporary themes, such as the polarization of politics and the rise of generative AI, could be a big hit if done right.
