Ok I’ve been way too busy lately to read the latest comics, and I need confirmation on something if anyone can help,

Did they just announce a THIRD Batgirl in DC Pride? Because wtf

If this is true I’m getting the vibe that DC is trying to see if they can get rid of Steph and Cass if people like Alyssia

Someone please tell me ANYTHING

Because why do we have 2 Batgirls and when it should be Cass period and Steph as Spoiler, why the hell is DC adding a 3rd one? No... something smells fishy

Maybe I’m overreacting but like I’m scared for Steph and Cass rn, this is not a good sign

Edit: I didn’t know that Alyssia was a character that already existed. As you can tell by this post that I had no idea who she was since she was a minor(?) character in New 52 and hasn’t been around in a while. I don’t know much about her yet although she sounds interesting, and I guess my worries of Steph and Cass being replaced has slightly swayed, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Again to RE-EMPHASIZE, I just wanted to know context about the latest issue I couldn’t and didn’t read yet, thanks

I don’t think I have seen anyone mentions this, but am I the only one who thinks it makes zero sense for Cassandra and Jason to have last names that are not Wayne? Like Dick had a loving father before he got adopted and while Tim’s relationship with his father is complicated I’m sure he still loved him, so I can understand them not wanting to completely discard their dad’s family name to honor them.

But Cassandra’s and Jason’s dads are complete assholes? Especially Cassandra’s dad who made her childhood literal torture, so I’m honestly confused as to why they still uses “Cain” and “Todd” after being adopted by Bruce.

Jason’s dad Pre-52 wasn’t an asshole, Loser Lobdell retconned Willis into being one. During Jason’s solo run as Robin he gets upset upon hearing about his fathers death at the hands of Two Face. Willis was in jail during majority of Jason’s life and he secretly wanted to have a close father-son relationship, but they never could because he died and Jason never knew. In New 52 he’s changed to an abusive alcoholic for cheap angst. Also Catherine (Jason’s step-mother) changed her last name to Todd (I don’t think we know her maiden name), so Jason could be keeping it because of her and not Willis (since technically it’s still canon that he’s an asshole, ugh).

But... for Cass, I think changing her name from Cain to Wayne would 100% make sense! I think the only reason why we don’t see her as “Cassandra Wayne” is because DC always forgets about her and not really think too much about her position in the family, I think it’s just that simple honestly, which is a shame.

Jason keeping his og last name makes sense, but Cass changing her name to Wayne does too.
