Scam Alert - Commissioning Artists Beware

Artists, there’s a scam going around on Twitter at the minute, and you never know, someone might try it over here.

This guy is messaging commissioning artists and attempting to gain access to their PayPal by pretending to need a code to pay the bill. Obviously we all know that’s bull, but if someone isn’t paying attention, is unfamiliar with PayPal commissions as a whole, or is just desperate enough for that commission money?  They might fall for it. OP’s tweet here.

PayPal will not require a code for someone to complete payment.

It’s just not how it works, I know it, you know it, the scammer knows it.  But he’s gambling on the potential that someone (and that someone is mostly likely to be a young, new artist without much commission experience under their belt, let’s be honest) doesn’t know it.  Let’s make sure everyone does. So if you’d be so kind, please boost the everliving hell out of this.  Don’t let anyone fall prey to this shady, shady individual, either here or on twitter or anywhere else.

A little late to the finale art party but??? I have a lot of feelings over seeing the close of Vox Machina’s story.  (It looks nicer in full view btw)

It was two weeks before San Diego Comic Con, and all I had was the helmet at the time. I had seen Master Chef jokes been done for years, usually just a standard Master Chief armor with an apron, but rarely with the full actual chef coat. The helmet had been given to me as a gift from a friend a few years back, and I had the chef coat and hat. The stars aligned and Master Chef became my first ever cosplay.

I used Velcro to attach the chef hat to the Master Chief helmet. Under the chef hat is a little Halo 4 Crawler action figure named Remy. I had to add some padding within the helmet to keep it in place. The pants and shoes were from my days of working in the fast food industry! lol

People’s reactions were immediately positive. Within 5 minutes of wearing the costume, I was pulled aside for a quick interview with a local San Diego news anchor. Then at the Halo panel, all the cosplayers in Halo armor invited me to hang out with them and I became a part of the local Southern California Halo cosplay group @anvilstation. They eventually taught me how to work with foam and I built an actual suit of Master Chief armor!

This costume has impacted my life so significantly. Because of it, I’ve made some of the coolest friends I’ve ever had, and continue to meet cool awesome people still to this day. I use my cosplay to attend charity events and entertain guests at fundraisers, so I feel like i get to really give back to the community. Getting here just took the first step of deciding to cosplay at all, and I’m thankful that first step was an awesome pun that entertains to many people at every con I go to.

Mara's brow furrows at the question.

Her knee-jerk reaction is to say something easy - like her sweet tooth or her tendency to accidentally sneak up on people and startle them - but that hardly seems fair. So she does what snipers do best; she waits and considers and lets the solution come to her.

When it does she almost falls back to the fact that she can turn anything into a competition. She's not sure it's the kind of thing you tell a casual aquaintence, even one you are sharing an incredibly expensive bottle of rum with. But this is a game and if you want to win a game you have to play by the rules and since she chose truth the rules say she has to be truthful.

"I let my feelings for people color my opinion of them too much," she admits. Then she downs the shot in front of her so she doesn't have to elaborate any further.

It's a small comfort that Zoe looks as uncomfortable as she feels. She keeps taking a breath like she's going to say something, then she changes her mind and huffs it out without making a sound. Maybe she can't decide what to say or if she should say anything at all.

At least that problem Mara can solve. She pours them both another shot and asks, "Truth or dare?"

"Dare," Zoe answers without hesitation.

Mara nods, sipping this time while she thinks. Her eyes settle on a violin case and she tilts her glass toward it.

"Play something?"

One thing that I noticed was that many of the movie clips had the actors poorly lit, so you couldn’t see their signing very well, especially their faces. Non-manual markers are also a really important part of ASL grammar!
