Three ships

Astarion/Tav (or Durge)

I am an enjoyer of all shades of Astarion and there's so many angles to take these ships, especially post game. He's such a juicy and layered character and I love exploring all those angles and how he interacts with a character like Durge, or similar, who has their own darkness to reckon with and needs support, too. Currently writing fics for both spawn and ascended Astarion and I don't see myself quitting the brainrot anytime soon.

MacCready/Sole Survivor (+Deacon!)

The first ship that I truly wrote fic for. I wouldn't be the same as a person or a writer without these characters. It sometimes amazes me how little romance there actually is in these games, but the characters and dynamics alone were just begging to be explored and sprouted so, so much fic out of me. "I never really thought of us that way" my ass. 🤭

Solas x Lavellan

God I can't believe it's been 10 years of this 😆 But as a tragedy enjoyer, the poeticism of this ship was just too perfect to resist. Getting back on my bs in time for the new game to (finally!) come out!

Aside from playing catch up on some fics I've been following for a long time...

I absolutely guzzled down By Proxy by @alcetryx in one sitting last night and I'm so feral about it. I have to properly keysmash in their comment box still but I gotta wait until I have some free time because thumb typing is insufficient and I have so much to say about this fic. Incredible slow burn post game with A!A and Tav all wound up in some juicy political intrigue. Their dynamic is so sweet and sexy and the pining and self denial is on a nuclear level.

Next up for new fics on my TBR list are @vixstarria's Bloodbang Chronicles and No Good Deeds by Garnett (who is a discord friend but I don't think they're on Tumblr!)

Favorite flavor: Vanilla or strawberry (but it's gotta taste like real strawberries, not artificial BS. I'm picky about it)

Current obsession: I would normally say something like BG3 or an upcoming travel destination. But I recently downloaded the Finch app and am trying really hard to center self care as my prime objective at the moment. Setting manageable goals. Balancing different elements of my life. Engaging in creative hobbies in a way that doesn't drain me. Trying to build positive change in my life in a way that's sustainable.

Skill I'd like to learn: I'd like to learn some Spanish! Enough at least to get around as a tourist and ask some basic questions/understand simple responses.

Best Advice: A good blend of the Hamilton & the LotR treatment: You are the one thing in life you can control. You are an original. There's good in this world. It's worth fighting for, and worth waiting for. Waiting to seize the right moment is not the same as stagnation.

Unsolicited Lore Dump

Thanks to the wonderful @paganwitchisis and @pinkberrytea for the tags! This is such a fun get-to-know you game!

Do you make your bed? No and I have no shame about it because I honestly don't really see the point. I straighten the covers at night before getting in.

Favorite number? Numbers greater than 10 with 2 in it! 12, 22, 32, etc.

What's your job? I work in HR, but not in hiring/firing/performance management. I do benefits administration, specifically for a closed pension plan. This means I work with a lot of retirees and older folks. I also work on transitioning active employees into retirement, benefits for beneficiaries when someone passes away, and setting up benefits splits resulting from divorces.

If you could go back to school would you? Not full time, no. I am too burnt out to flourish in that environment. I did 18 credits + two jobs my last three or so semesters of undergrad and that fried me something awful even this far removed from it. BUT, if I could cut my work schedule in half (without a drop in income) and take 1-2 classes at a time, I certainly would. I'd like to take foreign language classes, and I've always really love social sciences courses. I have a minor in poli sci that could be cool to turn into a complete degree/major.

Can you parallel park? Decently, yes. I could with my old compact car, but I'm much better now that I have a back-up cam.

Do you think aliens are real? Yes in the sense in that the universe is vast and it seems highly unlikely we're the only life forms in it. But I don't think it's anything like movies or video games might make it out to be. I think it's also possible that lifeforms used to exist elsewhere or will someday exist elsewhere but have either gone extinct or haven't yet emerged.

Can you drive a manual car? Nope, and I don't really have interest in learning.

What's your guilty pleasure? I'm working hard to have less and less guilt about any pleasures I have. But I suppose I'd say fanfic and hyperfixating on video game characters in general. Beyond just enjoying the game itself; really deep diving and getting sucked into a character or character(s) and running through rabbit holes imagining them in all sorts of scenarios, AUs, etc.

Tattoos? Yes! I have carpe diem on one foot, and a celtic triple spiral on another, gotten at age 18 and 19 respectively. I want to get a dragon someday, and have toyed with the idea of getting a 'sister' tattoo with it of willowherb (said to be the first sort of plant that comes back after a forest fire). I've also toyed with the idea of the dragon in more of a resting position, breathing to life a little campfire.

Favorite color? Purple or blue. I also like winey colors (reds and purples)

Favorite types of music? My music taste is incredibly eclectic, but I'd broadly say pop rock or pop punk.

Do you like puzzles? Sort of! I like ones that are hard enough to make me feel smart. I get easily frustrated by things I can't figure out somewhat quickly, though. I enjoy sudoku.

Any phobias? I struggle with bugs, though I've gotten marginally better over time and can handle small spiders on my own, now. Due to a real, real rough apartment experience, I generally freak out about mice as well. I can keep my cool if they're in an enclosure like in a pet store, though I don't like looking at them there, either. I also have a recurring dream about accidentally driving off a cliff and so I get super tense and nervous driving on bridges.

Favorite childhood sport? Swimming.

Do you talk to yourself? In the car, or if I'm alone for a longer period of time. I work from home on Mondays/Fridays and find myself doing it more often those days.

What movies do you adore? Oh gosh, I honestly don't often rewatch movies, I'd generally prefer to watch something new instead. But uh, the LotR trilogy is pretty precious to me. Dune 2 was great! I liked Get Out and Nope. I remember liking Dr. Sleep a lot, too, but I only watched it once and it's sort of a blur in my memory. Recently watched Saving Private Ryan for the first time and it kind of fucked me up. I'm pretty eclectic in what I like with movies.

Coffee or tea? Black coffee. Death before decaf.

First thing you wanted to be growing up? I think maybe an author. Also a fairy godmother for a long time. I still kinda wanna be both.

I am an ice cream fiend!! I'm a little weird about it in that, I tend not to want/buy a tub/carton of ice cream. I don't want it in a dish on its own. I want ice cream treats. Sandwiches, bars, or in a cone. I like a little crunch with it!!

My favorite is a snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich I get at a local grocery store. There's also a soft serve place my husband and I walk to that's high quality and really cheap. My go-to order there is a zebra cone (idk if everyone calls it 'zebra', I mean chocolate/vanilla twist!).

I'm not super adventurous, but I do like coffee or espresso flavors. Chocolate is fine, but I prefer it with vanilla mixed in, and would probably go vanilla if I had to pick one on its own.

In no particular order:

1.Recently spent a weekend out of a town at a friend's house bingeing an entire show (Midnight Mass for a second time) and just being comfy and lazy and it really filled my soul back up. It's been a while since I spent a weekend that way.

2. Writing! I'm still sort of struggling to find my new normal as far as a sustainable volume/time spent on a regular basis, but I went through a really big writing drought that BG3 finally broke and I've done more words in the past month or so than I had in the whole rest of the year prior 🥲 Currently working on my first smut fic in 2+ years and having a lot of fun with it.

3. BG3, and some really lovely/positive experiences I've had so far in the fandom. I seem to have stayed entirely out of proximity of most/all of any drama that's occurred, and just enjoying great writing/art/vibes from likeminded lovers of the game.

4. Recently bought myself a heated vest. Best investment (heh) I've made in a while. I live somewhere with long frigid winters and I loathe the cold, but it's helped a lot.
