I’m going to keep it real, I will accept Liam Hemsworth as Geralt if he can make me believe two things that Cavill never achieved:

1) Geralt enjoys fucking Yennefer

2) Geralt would want to fuck Jaskier

Joey Batey is doing all this work to keep Geraksier alive. He’s given us entire songs. Meanwhile the fans are having to dissect Henry Cavill‘s micro expressions to make us believe that Geralt even likes the guy let alone wants to be with him.  I don’t even get me started with the lack of chemistry between Geralt and Yennefer I mean I think we can all agree that it needs help. I literally forgot that they were even supposed to be in love in season two 😭

I’ve held my silence for years (outside of discord) about Cavill’s Geralt because I like him sometimes but I’m finally ready to break my silence with the recasting…because THIS YES

Yennefer is able to have good chemistry with both Jaskier and Cahir (and Fringilla but people aren’t ready to hear that 😤) in the show with no issue but the canon pairing of Geralt and Yen is seemingly a monumental task to achieve even the most basic of chemistry

How can I explain the very specific vibes I want out of Yenralt?

I ship them in the sense that they were married but then got divorced but they are still together and they love each other very much but they will NOT get married again.

They are great but also terrible together and every 3 weeks have to take a mental health break from each other.

They are the goth big titty gf and the gamer bf (who is who I will leave up to you)

They are currently fucking but also they have never fucked before.

They would do anything for each other including murdering someone but would also leave the other in a shop and not go back to look for them.

So while coming up with the timeline for S2 I have made some fun discoveries. 

1) In episode 7 when Geralt travels from Oxenfurt to Cintra with Jaskier that trip would have taken them roughly 3-4 days. 

2) From episode 7 to 8 we see Geralt and Yennefer take horses from Cintra to Kaer Morhen. This roadtrip would have taken them 7-9 days. 

Now I am sitting here wondering what was occurring during these days. Did Geralt get a chance to hear Jaskier’s new hit single? Did Yennefer and Geralt not talk for a literal week while traveling to Kaer Morhen? Was there breakup/hate/guilt sex? I want to know these things that the show is unintentionally dangling in front of my face.

For all the fans wondering why people seem to be losing it at this episode title and why it’s trending on Twitter, I have the explanation for you here!

In Blood of Elves when Ciri is undergoing her training with Nenneke after she leaves Kaer Morhen, Geralt writes to Yennefer, asking for her help. He began the letter to her with “Dear Friend” as he couldn’t decide how to begin a letter to a woman who means so much to him, but one who is not currently with.

In return, Yennefer sends him a letter also beginning with Dear Friend and calling him that throughout the letter as a way to mock him.

But Yennefer ends the letter with this:

“Should you, in the next few years, wish to write to me, do not hesitate for a moment. Your letters invariably give me boundless pleasure.”

There were rumors of both Geralt and Yennefer’s death floating around as well. Rumors that Yennefer was killed at Sodden and that Geralt was killed by a monster. So they both likely believed the other to be dead at certain points. And then Yennefer receives a letter from Geralt, finding out he alive and well. And hasn’t contacted her in years.

Geralt calls Yennefer “Dear Friend” because he doesn’t feel he has the right to call her anything closer than that, not anymore, not after years of silence while training Ciri in Kaer Morhen.

Yet he still loves her and he can’t escape the scent of lilac and gooseberry on her letter. Geralt punishes himself by calling Yennefer “Dear Friend” and he spends so much time in Blood of Elves just pining after a woman he doesn’t believe he deserves.

So basically expect a lot of pining and longing and yearning in Season 2 and plenty of angst along the way.

OK so I’m also going to leave this as a comment on AO3 but I just read what you have of the fic. And it’s amazing!! First off, we don’t have enough fic from Yennefer POV, I love her so damn much and almost everything in the way you captured her character is great.

Actually I think one of my favorite scenes from the entire story is her and Geralt’s argument in the very beginning it felt so in character and I could see you weaving in the lines from the show and I just loved it. 

I actually don’t read modern AUs very often, so I’ve never read a friends with benefits Yennskier modern AU before so I had so much fun diving into this. I love how they’re both pining after the same man.

Also the fact that Geralt’s childhood trauma is holding him back so much. 😭 Damn. I want them all to have a happy ending so badly but I’m kind of loving the new friendship that’s forming. Yennefer going out to brunch with Sabrina and Triss is so much fun. Also the mention of Yen in the foster system and her meeting Triss 🥺 STOP MY HEART. Now I’m just waiting for Fringilla to pop it I want to know her vibes. She always strikes me as the kind of person who is really close to people in university and then she graduated and you never heard from her again and then she like comes at three years later as like an insanely successful business woman or something. 

Your characterizations are really solid and I just had a fun time reading it. We need more modern AUd where Yen has a physical disability and here you are providing that!! I like how you discuss the accessibility of her apartments and I could definitely see hints my post throughout it. Thanks so much!!

It was very enjoyable and it felt very realistic like the characters were in fact in the modern world which is the ultimate goal of writing something like this. It was just fun to read. Do you know the kind of fanfiction you read where you like have to stop and look away from the screen and laugh a little and then you go back to it? I did that like five different times. I’m going to be honest a lot of the times I laughed was when Yennefer and Jaskier had sex because the way you wrote it sounded like a comedy of errors. WHEN THEY GOT HIGH AND WOKE UP IN BED NEXT TO EACH OTHER 🍃 💨 😈 THE ACCURACY

I love how they kind of just kept sleeping with each other on accident. Also two people who are sleeping with each other also mutually pining after the same man that’s quality content. (I said this before but I GETS ME SO GOOD OKAY) Also Jaskier assuming Geralt is straight, sir. Like Geralt is not straight Jaskier you dork. And I think at the end of the day that’s a big reason why I liked it because they all just kind of seemed like dorks in their late 20s and I really enjoyed it. They were having a good time which is a nice break from the torture they will probably be facing in season 2. Overall, amazing fic and thank you so much for writing it!!

I’ve had an absolutely AMAZING time working with @hehearse on this for @beyondthecontinent, I’m such a lucky guy to have gotten your art!!! Here’s the fic that goes with it:

[Fic] Sun & Moon Fandom/Series: The Witcher Characters: Yennefer of Vengerberg, Geralt of Rivia, Ciri Pairing: Geralt/Yennefer Rating: M Length:  6,850 words Summary: Yennefer is hunted by Witchhunters and taken in by a friendly family on her flight. However, the Witchhunters are following her and soon, more blood is spilt. Can she make it back to Kaer Morhen and her family in time to find comfort with them? Warnings: graphic violence, murder, including on-screen child death (not described graphically), angst, anti-witch sentiments, Loss/Mourning, Yennefer Whump, Hurt/Comfort and soft family moments at the very end.

Yennefer looks up, shivering. The sky is slowly turning purple and orange in the oncoming dusk, like a days-old bruise. The wind is picking up, cutting into her like knives. With her luck, the dark clouds looming on the horizon and rapidly coming closer are carrying flurries of snow – snow that will bury her if she isn’t careful. Kaer Morhen is so close, looming like a giant gargoyle in the distance, digging its claws into the stone of the mountain. She isn’t sure, but she thinks she can see light from two of its windows and wonders whether these are, perhaps, Ciri’s rooms. She will not give up in the face of some cold and snow. She will keep going. She will keep going.
