i'm in love with the way the actors are so in tune with their characters,,, henry doing all of his own stunts and yet being a total nerd,,, anya mixing sheer power with a beautiful emotional arc,,, freya talking about balancing badassery and softness,,, and then joey just living his dream by finding a character he's always wanted to play,,, it just warms my heart

the arc that she goes through is an incredible challenge. And I-I love discovering more about her the more I read and the more I play her, I suppose.
Anya Chalotra on Yennefer, Making The Witcher
Unpopular opinion: I found Yennefer's story to be very boring. I like Yennefer, but I only watched her story up until her transformation because I couldn't get into it and I didn't care about the characters. I had no previous knowledge of the Witcher so I thought her story would be about magic and her becoming a mage, but in reality it seemed like it was just about her being shit on over and over again, which I'm not a fan of.

i mean if you’ve been reading this blog you know i have a really different experience of Yennefer’s arc. in this world, learning to be a mage isn’t about spells, it’s about politics, about learning the layers of lies that make up the world. Yennefer’s story isn’t really about learning to be a mage, it’s about learning to be herself.
i also definitely hear you; sometimes i just nope right out of something if i see a character getting beaten down over and over again. it can really numb you out. Yen starts in such a heartbreaking place and goes through so much just to get through that transformation--
you know, actually (as though anyone has asked) what gets me through all of that? it’s the fierce intensity Anya Chalotra brings to the performance. in her eyes when she tells Tissaia she won’t go:
it reminds me a lot, if you guys saw the BTS of Leander Deeny, Chris Evan’s pre-serum Steve body double, of his intensity:
I just always think his performance is so much better than Chris Evans’-- he and Anya both channel this very angry, bitter, desperate strength that-- immediately, I love them. It makes me trust that, even though I’m going to see them go through some terrible things, I know it’s not going to break them. I’m rooting for them to make it.
