So.  In the Umbrasyl fight, Percy’s dragon-trap eventually failed. Both Percy’s guns failed.  He ended up standing five feet from a dragon slashing frantically away at it with a sword.  And then he was down, melting in acid.  

When the tech he relies on fails, without his inventions, who is Percy?  The answer is apparently “a brave maniac” or “dead.”  

I wonder if we aren’t going to see some repercussions of this building up over time (because, Taliesin fucking Jaffe’s steel trap mind). 

Frinstance, last time Percy went down just before the end of the dragon fight, during the next game he winced when squeezed and pointed out he’s currently made of bruises and broken bones. (I really appreciated this; when there’s healing magic it’s very easy for injuries to really be treated as just subtraction of numbers instead of something that really affects the characters.)

I think Percy trying to go for a quiet soak was a nod to the same thing after Umbrasyl, but then he fucking blows himself up playing a game with his friends.  Maybe this was just Percy Needing To Win even when it’s literally self-destructive, but I’m very interested to see where else this might go, especially given everything else that happened in this episode.
