Oops I dropped my updated drive of DnD resources that I'd NEVER put the 2024 Player's Handbook on, or any other materials.
That would be so reckless of me. Who would leave 100+ DnD materials just laying around?

oh pro tip for art study, especially especiallyyyyy if we're in the same self-taught boat, you're probably going to have more success hitting an art instruction book than you are youtube videos. the quality control, even if it's a particular method or technique you don't grok with, is going to be higher and therefore easier to pick through. a lot of youtube art tutorials are great entertainment, but not great instructional materials, and it can sometimes be difficult to figure that out because its in a channel's best interest to come across that way. good starting points, basically.
The first newsletter since launch came out a few days ago! It summarises all the updates I've made in November, which includes 2 (!) new devices, a sub-device, and other site changes.
A short comment that sits outside of a balloon or character that is not perceived by anyone except the comment maker and the reader. An aside may come from the author, usually placed outside of the panel or near the edges. (Page with examples)
A secondary row of panels or single panel that goes 'on top' of the main comic. They are typically removable and non-essential, and usually contain the comic's title. (Page with examples)
Languages are assigned flags, pictographs or other iconographic symbols. (Page with examples)
aaaand here's the rest of the (good) seamless textures I've made, various washes and marker scribbles on different kinds of paper I've scanned. Most of these I've use on brushes but they could be used for overlays too.
Like with the others, make sure you adjust scale and use levels to make them do what you want. Note that these ones will also become hideous if tiled at a small scale.
They're totally free to use, don't worry about credit.
more textures! (more large files sorry)
I had to shrink the first two a lot to upload them here, but they should still be useful; I usually slap these on with an overlay layer. Be sure to adjust the levels like the others i posted earlier; grayscale them if the color tint is too warm. fyi, these particular ones aren't seamless.
once again: these are free for y'all to use, no credit is required- have fun!
ok! I found the textures i use the most, first two are on a lot of my brushes, the gray noise i use on overlay on top of the art, last three i often place on a mask but they work as an overlay too.
*** the secret is: when you put their layer on overlay mode, USE LEVELS to adjust the texture until it looks good on your art, otherwise the original values might change too much or the texture might be too heavy or not heavy enough. Even if you use them on a mask be sure to levels them, I think that goes for any texture you slap onto something! also be sure to scale them up or down as needed.
Feel free to use them for whatever! credit is unnecessary. They are seamless but some tile ugly, especially at small scale, so watch out
I just watched a kid break down in the bookstore because his books for the semester totaled $600 and that’s the american university system in a nutshell
I was on the verge of tears when I got to the cashier so yeah, that’s messed up
YES. I FOUND THE THING, IF ANYONE DOESN’T HAVE MONEY FOR COLLEGE TEXT BOOKS LIKE ME, THEN GO HERE OKAY?
reblogging to remember and help for u guys
A bunch of people said they’ve never heard of this, so here it is. LibreOffice is a free suit of office tools that imitate all the major Microsoft Office applications.
Writer - Word Processor (Word) Calc - Spreadsheet (Excel) Impress - Presentations (PowerPoint) Draw - Diagrams Base - Database Math - Formula Editor
It’s compatible with every format that Microsoft Office uses and documents made in it are indistinguishable from ones made in Microsoft Office (in case you have a weirdly controlling teacher who insists on Microsoft Office for some stupid reason).
With this, there’s no reason to ever pay for these programs ever again. There’s no ads or bloatware, just a donation page on the website.
Everyone please reblog this to help out a student or anyone else who needs it.
Reblogging because I think I should
a lot of people draw fat characters as like Vaguely Round stomach, throw on stretch marks (drawn in a way that stretch marks DO NOT work) and often body hair (for some reason?? like i’m fat and have body hair but it seems like fat artwork is OBSESSED with adding it on as some sort of statement), pert boobs, maybe the glimmer of a double chin, big ol’ thighs cause they’re in vogue rn, and maybe round upper arms
and it’s like… zero acknowledgement of sag
or how you can be fat and have small boobs/ass/thighs/hips
no thick neck along with the double chin
no fat rolls
all fat people are also drawn to have looooong legs as if to apologize for the rest of the proportions
i look at a “fat” character and what i see is just a skinny character with weight added on, even though that’s not how that works
and it’s just very clear to me that some artists want credit for “diversity” but don’t want to actually look at fat bodies. they apologize with hyper feminine outfits or the implication that the fat character is athletic or something. the fat character still has the perfect figure because “well, some fat people DO still have curves like that!”
we’re thicc and thick and “chubby” and plus size.
but we’re never actually fat. even the “largest” characters i have seen drawn are just… larger chubby girls. zero acknowledgement of how fatness actually works.
Anyways! I don’t want this to be a wholly negative post with no takeaway other than “You should feel bad” (but you probably should), so here is what looks like a good resource:
Too many people base their understanding of fat bodies on plus size models, who are photoshopped, molded with cut outs, and chosen specifically because of how they still fit conventional beauty standards. They are not indicative of how most fat bodies look.
Please take the time to look at fat bodies that aren’t marketable and appreciate them for their own worth, beauty, and fortitude. Do not let fat bodies be alien to you, do not otherize us. This should be normalized.
Fat people deserve art and media that reflect fat bodies honestly. Seeing plus size models as our only rep only ends up setting out a new, impossible goal for fat people. We’re made to feel that we aren’t fat in the right way. It sends the message that you can fail at being skinny AND fail at being fat, which is an awful thing to do. No body is a bad body. All bodies deserve to be seen and to see themselves.
Fat people deserve to be seen as fat people, not as skinny people with added weight.
This is a resource post for all the Good White Person™s out there. You know, the ones who say things like “It’s not my fault I’m white! Don’t generalize white people!”, or “I’m appreciating your culture! You should be proud!”, or “Why do you hate all white people, look I’m a special snowflake who’s not racist give me an award for meeting the minimum requirements for being a decent human being”. Well, if you are actually interested in understanding racism and how it ties into cultural appropriation, please read instead of endlessly badgering PoCs on tumblr with your cliched, unoriginal arguments and repeating the same questions over and over.
On White Privilege aka don’t blame me just because I’m white:
On Reverse Racism aka you are being racist against white people:
On Cultural Appropriation aka I’m just appreciating your culture:
Assorted Vials of White Tears and Miscellaneous Antidotes aka I can’t change that I’m white/not all whites are racist/we are all humans:
Okay. I agree. I’ve been socially conditioned not to notice racism and recognize my privilege. What can I do?
I don’t care about this bullshit; you’re making a big deal out of nothing, go home and delete your blog:
[ID: text on a white background: “it’s hard to see racism when you’re white”. The word “white” is in light gray, and the rest of the words are black. End ID.]
