Reblogs usually go straight into my queue only to emerge days/weeks/months later because I have super adhd and holding memories is difficult... like-spamming is step one of this queueing process.
(my current hyperfixations do not include re-coding this blog, so ugly it shall remain...)

Here’s Kurk—who I made as a super minimal character to pad out Wren’s life during the 4th era but got attached, and whose name I got from a generator and is so generic sounding it’s fun so I ran with it.

A vampire who really, really enjoyed when Wren would bring back his jobs while the blood was fresh or they weren’t quite…gone yet. They had a thing going for almost a decade around 4e 50, but Wren wanting to travel and Kurk being a homebody ultimately led them to separating. He also has a stack of magelight and candlelight tomes for any new seeing visitors since he doesn’t need to, well, see. No current god affiliation, too busy with everything else to think about it (and he prefers it that way)

Imperative to note he also talks kind of like a surfer/frat bro

Regarding ayleid specifically, their skin is darker than that of altmers and their eyes are more consistently lighter, almost always with blue tint. Yeah, they still look like a generic elf, but their appearance is clearly separated from that of altmers

(slapping the other ask on this one since they're related)

Yeah I like that there's something visually different about the Ayleid's from the Altmer/Aldmer (and by eso design standards, skin tone is about as far as they can significantly go). It's mostly based on how Dynar looks, but I also like to imagine they are more square and boxy-er looking than the Aldmer/Altmer (less like your stereotypically tall and graceful fantasy elves) to set them apart.

And I agree I like the yellow Dunmer lol. I mentioned it briefly when I did the ear headcanon thing, but I pretty much picture Chimer as a mix of Dunmer and Altmer characteristics, so it works for me!

Speaking of, when I did the ear headcanon thing I also did this skin tone thing for my own reference as a sort of mapping of general trends. Might as well post them while we're here

kaleen, do you not see my tusks

Continuing my forever-battles against eso's mmorpg lack of rpg, i just did the betnikh main quest as an orc. To the surprise of no one, no one on this goddamn orc island knows you're an orc.

Your orc is constantly getting orcsplained at by other orcs about how orcs behave, ranted at by humans complaining about orcs (not you, because the game doesn't see you as an orc), and when it comes time for your orc to prevent a future of continued human-perpetuated anti-orc crimes, your human pirate captain and her human girlsquad throw out their single remaining braincell to declare that you, an orc, have betrayed them and their human allies. They are surprised your orc said no to orc death-slavery.

Expecting any rpg in this mmorpg is folly, but somehow eso continues to disappoint.

Did You Know: There are usually four different spouse reactions types to houses you can live in; Arrogant, Neutral, Nord, or Orc? The reactions for a player-built house, for example:

Arrogant: “Fine, when we’re not fending off attacks by wolves. Or bears. Or giant spiders. Honestly, what were you thinking, sending us out here?”

Neutral: “Fine, love. I think the fresh air does wonders for all of us, and this house… it’s just perfect.”

Nord: “Fine, fine. Living out here on our own will take some getting used to, but I think it’ll be good for us.”

Orc: “Better than ever. Nothing like living off the land to teach you how to fight, how to survive. We’ll have a little warrior on our hands in no time.”

Once again, Orcs prove to be the superior option.

non-orcs: the house you built for me with your own hands is fine… I guess…

orcs: this place is awesome but it’s gonna be even better once we’ve fucked on every horizontal surface

I finally have an orc character now.

also i finally have a templar now :O I’m gonna make him a sneaky boy.  ignore the sickle clipping into his clothing at his waist there, just pretend that’s not happening, it’s fine.

also holy moly it’s difficult to make a dude orc who doesn’t look like every other dude orc in the game, with their gigantic square zillion-year-old faces of crags.  I would LOVE craggy old character options for women, but of course we don’t get that. Also the fact that no matter where you put the age on male orsimer in char creation, they look exactly the same is a red flag.  and annoying as hell. and bad design. But i worked with what i had and bam, here we are.

i miss the snout noses from oblivion for orsimer, honestly: you could even achieve similar nose-slit effects in skyrim.  i’d prefer my orcs to not lean into racist caricatures of real human peoples, and also for elven (because orcs are elves) creatures to not just look like regular people with a few accessories put on here and there in my fantasy media... but i digress.
