americans sweeties, can you explain for me why is president kennedy's image such a strong and still adored symbol in the usa?
he's basically a pop figure nowadays. is it because he was symbolically killed and right in the middle of a age which's the symbol of the american dream?
yes, many people think his death was symbolic in sort of the “death of american innocence” in a way. he was also the first catholic president which was breaking some stigma of the time. he was popular with the youth of the time as well for his looks and being younger than most presidents.
also, he was firm on the civil rights movement: defending voting rights and pushing to desegregate many places such as the university of Alabama.
there’s so many more reasons as why is such an iconic figure even today but i’m too lazy to write all that out so there’s some more reasons here
oh, thank you so much for your answer ♡
“death of the american innocence”, woah, such a catchphrase!! i hadn't heard of that! i only had a superficial overview of the political situation in the USA at the time, so i read your link and it was very interesting to know in more detail.
tysm again for so many infos, it helped a lot!
today i arrived earlier at college, so i spent an hour picking flowers for my beloved. ✿
