I think as a culture we have all forgotten that fandom is supposed to be fun.

It’s not that serious.

It was never supposed to be that serious.

Especially since most of the drama and hurt revolves around shipping.

All of the ships are fictional. Being canon doesn’t actually negate the fact that the ship isn’t real. 

No ship, or any aspect of a fictional universe, is important enough to treat another real life human being badly.

“I have been very fortunate, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to play vastly different people. But it hasn’t just been luck, I’ve been very active in making sure — for instance, when I get a script, if the script describes the character as Latin or whatever ethnicity it might be, my very first thing is to take that away, and to see what’s there. Because often what happens is you get characters that are quite bland that the only interesting thing about them is that they’re exotic and they’re from some sort of ‘weird place’, that they speak funny or have funny cultural things or may be ‘passionate!’ or ‘bad-tempered!’ or ‘they like food and family!’ So that’s one of the first things I’ll do just to make sure that it’s not just something that’s being stamped on to make it more interesting or to fill some quota.” x

What was the first thing that you did when you found out that you actually got the part?  “I was in a hotel room in London so I just blasted the Star Wars theme and I grabbed the shampoo bottle and started using it like an X-wing.“
