Fringe was nice because it had the retro science stuff and mystery that I enjoyed with Lost, but it actually all tied together and all the lore connected logically with the emotional story so when you get to the end its like “Yes. Perfect.”
Like season 1 sets up a lot of stuff that kind of just trails off and then seasons 2 and 3 have their own things going on so after years of narrative abuse from Lost and its imitators I was resigned to never getting explanations for any of it, but then seasons 4 and 5 pick all of the season 1 plot hooks up, explain all of the little things and tie them into the core narrative and the alternate universe plot from seasons 2 and 3.
Fringe was really really underrated and IMO by the end its better than the X-Files or Lost (which it usually gets compared to) ever were.
Fringe finale was awesome, the perfect closure to a perfect show.
One of the most beautiful things about this show is the humanity of the characters and to witness their redemption. Fringe is an amazing adventure that teaches us that the ties, the love we create along the way survive everything: parallel universes, alternative realities and every kind of difficulty all shaken up with a mix of syfy.
Personally I do not diminish Lost, a beautiful show that I love but Fringe is the ninth symphony of the creators of Lost. Without Lost, Fringe could not exist, thanks to the first show the writers were able to introduce themes such as time travel, alternative realities that have been perfected in Fringe.
