SLAP.

SLAP.

SLAP.

Caretaker's hand whips across Whumper's cheek, snapping their face to the side. Whumper looks away the whole time, silent, as hot tears run down their bruised and bloody cheeks. They blink,

"Look, Caretaker, I'm so-"

SLAP.

They wince, scrunching their brows together before trying again.

"CARETAKER. I'm"

SLAP.

Caretaker strikes harder. Whumpee teeters to the side.

"I"

SLAP.

Caretaker strikes as hard as they can, taking Whumper off their feet. They slam shoulder first into the ground.

"LOOK I'M SORRY, OK," Whumper screams in desperation, writhing on the floor in agony as they clutch their injured arm.

Caretaker reaches down, dragging Whumper to their feet by their collar, and yanks them to eye level. They grit their teeth and grind out,

"Then. Bring. Whumpee. Back."

While I enjoy the "team is captured and the villain hurts the weakest member in front of the others" trope, what I really want to see is "team is captured and the villain breaks the leader/strongest one in front of the others"

How about "team is captured and the villain makes the weakest member and the strongest/leader fight to the death in front of the others"

The suspense, the fear, and the finale.

Whumpee that matches Whumper’s insane energy. Just imagine(TW for knife-to-throat threat):

Whumper, holding a knife to Whumpee’s throat: Don’t move, or I’ll kill you.

Whumpee, with a wicked grin: BET BRO LETS FUCKING DO THIS‼️‼️

Whumper starts shaking: I-I'll really do it !!

Something I haven't seen a lot of is weird ticks that appear when feeling super strong emotions.

Like when I was a kid, and sometimes even now, my teeth used to chatter nonstop anytime I was excited, scared, angry, etc.

I've got an image in my head of a whumpee crying so hard that their teeth chatter uncontrollably, and they get mad that they can't make it stop.

  • Whumpee is insecure about showing strong emotions around others in case their teeth start chattering.
  • Anytime they try to hide from Whumper they struggle to keep their teeth from chattering because they don't want whumper to hear and find them.
  • Whumpee worries that they might be annoying others, but it is really difficult to stop chattering their teeth when it starts.
  • They get so angry when it starts, because it feels like they are broadcasting their feelings to everyone when they just want to be left alone.
  • Their teeth chatter so often it hurts their jaw and makes it difficult to chew due to fatigue.

Also weird ticks I have that I have to struggle to not do around others

  • I hum when extremely embarrassed (usually after I remember a social blunder)
  • Make "Ch Ch Ch" noises when focusing on a new task.
  • Self soothing by running fingers through my arm, leg, or head hair.
  • Self soothing by rubbing cold metal objects.

It would be really interesting to see certain emotions trigger specific ticks in whumpees.

Short Whumpers!

I don't see this very often, but I would love to see the dynamics between a short Whumper and a tall Whumpee. The extra steps Whumper has to take to show dominance would be great to explore.

  • Needing to use a step stool to be able to look Whumpee in the eyes.
  • Or, yanking Whumpee's shirt collar to pull them down to Whumper's level.
  • Forcing Whumpee to crouch so they are never taller than Whumper.
  • Whumper having a bunch of Whumpees but hurting the tallest one the most to assert dominance, or out of pure spite.
  • Whumper knowing that they have to be very careful with each Whumping session because one wrong move means that they could be hurt instead.
  • Injecting Whumpee with medicine that reduces their strength, so that they cannot turn the tables on Whumper so easily.
  • Short Whumper getting picked on by taller Whumpers, so they feel like they have to overcompensate by hurting their Whumpee more.
  • Then when the tables turn Whumper is hurt even worse than Whumpee because of the sheer size difference.
  • When Whumper turns into Whumpee, they are so small that they are easy to carry, and those that only knew them as a powerful, terrible person now realize just how little they really are.

Cigarettes

Whumper used to smoke anytime they hurt Whumpee. They would blow smoke in their face, and burn them with the cigarette butt.

So when they get rescued by Caretaker, they get really freaked out because Caretaker is also a smoker. Does Caretaker take the initiative to quit? Or do they make Whumpee power through (hence, bad caretaking)

Avatar

Whumper’s hideout catches fire, and Whumper escapes without Whumpee. Somehow Whumpee is able to get out of their restraints and make their way out of the building. But the smoke and burning flames get to them, and they collapse inches from the door.

Does someone get to them in time? Firefighters, or a worried neighbor that heard the faint cries for help?

Then the recovery from the smoke inhalation:

  • Needing Bronchodilators to open up always, and Oxygen to aid breathing.
  • The general difficulty of struggling to breathe long after the initial smoke inhalation
  • The worry for a lung infection early in the process of recovery.
  • Being unable to be as active as they used to be
  • Forced to do breathing exercises even if they are painful or uncomfortable

Then the fear of fire:

  • Lighting candles and other small fires can trigger Whumpee’s experience.
  • Like what if they got candles on a cake for their birthday, or if someone else threw a party and didn’t know about Whumpee’s fear of fire
  • Seeing fires on television, or in random places
  • Whumpee and Caretaker on the move and needing to light a fire because it is too cold otherwise, and Whumpee not having it.
  • Not being able to handle gas stoves or indoor fireplaces
  • Maybe the sounds of a fire alarm is super triggering

Way back before I knew what whump was, I ran a dnd campaign. One my players played a tiny character. I made a list of things to trap that character inside but didn’t use any of them so I’m posting here

  • A bottle
  • An hourglass
  • A test tube
  • A beaker
  • A small wooden box
  • A tiny Iron Maiden
  • Inside some kind of magical object, powering it
  • Such as a clear hilt of a sword
  • Or in an orb at the center of a shield
  • In one of those heeled shoes that you can put stuff inside the clear platform area
  • Under a wineglass, whumper leaning on the stand threatening to break it and crush the whumpee
  • Duct tape!
  • Butterfly net
  • Inside a bubble, one that won’t pop
  • A birdcage
  • A hydro flask
  • Ever seen one of those yarn cocoons? They’re like tiny cages that you can carry around like a purse
  • Under a milk crate
  • An altoids box
  • A tictak thingy
  • A pencil box

That’s kinda all I came up with, but some of these can be made crueler by the kind of materials they hold smelling really strong, or even being toxic

Whumper A borrowing Whumper B’s Whumpee without telling them. Then accidentally hurting Whumpee too badly and having to get them medical help.

Whumper B coming back to find Whumpee gone, and being pissed that Whumpee “escaped”.

This can go one of two ways:

  • Whumper A blames Whumpee for escaping to cover their tracks. This means Whumpee gets extra punishment for something they didn’t do.
  • Whumper B finding out that Whumper A hurt Whumpee, and getting pissed at them for it. Whumper A gets the punishment Whumpee would have gotten.

For some reason I’m imagining that the Whumpers are siblings and it’s the younger one stealing the older one’s prized possessions.

Its Tuesday now! And yes! OMG, please.  We need more of this.

AND the Whumper being legit terrified of losing Whumpee, because of the consequences from:

  1. Caretaker
  2. A boss who needs Whumpee
  3. Losing a toy Whumper likes

Once Whumpee suddenly sucks in a breath and starts to regain conciousness, Whumper just has to sit back in utter shock. They have never been so shaken before, and they never want to feel like that again, or risk losing Whumpee.

Whumper starts questioning their motivations, or pursues a new kind of Whump that has less serious consequences.

Avatar

Whumpee has a bad immune system, and is usually the one that gets sick. Caretaker is always there to take care of them and nurse them back to health. Whumpee is always happy to have their friends and Caretaker hovering over them.

But when Caretaker gets sick, Whumpee gets frustrated. They get angry. The people that used to hover over Whumpee now hover over Caretaker and they crave the attention.

Avatar

Whumpee getting captured and turned into a vampire against their will and not understanding their newfound cravings.

When Caretaker finds them, weak and emaciated, the first thing they do is embrace Whumpee.

Suddenly, hearing Caretaker’s heartbeat triggers something in Whumpee and they sink their fangs into Caretaker’s shoulder.

“W-Whumpee?” Caretaker whispers before losing consciousness.

Caretaker stealing food for Whumpee, but getting caught by the shopkeeper and facing the punishment. A finger for each time thieves get caught.

Caretaker manages to get back home with some food that will last a day or so. They put on a brave face and smile as Whumpee lights up with joy.

But they can barely contain their shaking, as they squeeze a blood soaked rag to the stump that used to be their little finger.
