Video Transcription from user @/lelegenevieve on TikTok: “If you’ve been supporting the Black Lives Matter movement or are looking for ways to support, please stop scrolling and signal boost this video. I’ve been coding—pretty tirelessly—everyday for my website pb-resources.com. It’s an education tool and resource I’ve been using to compile information to fight police brutality and white supremacy. There are calls to action, educational tools, and different places to donate. Today I added this section that allows you to input your information and send automated emails; and everything is filled out for you. It was also really important that for me to adds way to support the Black trans community. And in a few days, the website will be generating ad revenue and 100% of the proceeds will be donated; so all you have to do is visit the site to support BLM. Lastly, I’ve been asking you guys to follow me on Instagram (@/alexisdenisew) so I can hit 10k and get the swipe up update and I’m almost there. So if you haven’t already, go follow.”
If anyone with experience with audio transcription formatting would like to repost this with a better transcript, please do, my experience is limited.
As of today, June 16th, 2020, Alexis is at 11K followers on Instagram and has the swipe up feature, but please continue to share this website!
please take a moment to really appreciate the argument of why "most cops don't live in the cities they oversee" needs to be addressed
[transcript:
Yusuf Abdul-Qadir: what percent of the police live in the city?
mayor: about 5% or so
Yusuf Abdul-Qadir: 5%, so 95% don’t live in the city.
mayor: yes.
Yusuf Abdul-Qadir: so when you say that the vast majority of the percentage goes towards salaries, et cetera, fringe benefits, that means that they take their money on 81, go to outside the city, pay taxes in those communities that have some of the best schools while we have an underfunded school district--
someone else: $60 million up.
Yusuf Abdul-Qadir: so i just want to put into context what we’re talking about, because it’s really easy to say, mayor-- and with all due respect, i like you. but that was a very politician answer.
mayor: sorry, what specifically?
Yusuf Abdul-Qadir: the, “we will consider, and we will look.” what we’re saying is we’re not interested in considering and looking. what we’re saying is, actually, there’s $50 million. commit to $20 million cut, because we’re sending money-- as the mayor of Syracuse, when you don’t have a tax base, you’re sending money out of Syracuse. and not just for 30 years-- for the rest of their life because their pensions, their health insurance, their families. so we are funding for other people’s communities to have the promise of the American dream while we are denying it in our community. that’s the context that you, as the mayor, have to look at this under.
so when we talk about renegotiating union contract, what we’re saying is you can’t play around with, “maybe, um, we will--” no. y’all got to go, because you don’t provide a service that is beneficial to the community, that is meaningful to the community. the services that you provide criminalize our community, impoverish our community, reallocate resources to suburbs. we are actually funding the suburbs, both in our police departments and in our schools.
and to be clear, just to be clear, it’s not just the fact of, like, the percentage of people. we’re also funding what race of people are on the police force, the percentage of race of teachers, as well, superintendent, board president. so we want to put in context, because it’s not just a class issue. it’s a race issue. we’re telling black and brown people and poor people, you don’t matter. the devil’s in the data and in the details, mayor. respectfully, it is not acceptable for us to be here considering.]
pres. trump sent federal troops into portland to squash the protests and they shot someone in the head with an impact round last night and shattered his skull. his blood is still on the sidewalk outside the federal courthouse. they are not like local cops and they are NOT fucking around. they carry ARs with live ammo and they are merciless. i am very sincerely scared that federal forces are going to instigate a kent state type situation by killing protesters as an example sometime between now & november and i am very scared it’s going to be here
Video of the protester who was shot being carried away by medics while bleeding everywhere (obvious TW). He is alive but was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital & needed extensive facial + skull reconstruction surgery. At the time they shot him he was standing on the sidewalk with both hands holding a boombox above his head Video of a federal officer kneeling on someone while he has a seizure; they did not allow medics to help him. There is word that this person may have died but afaik that is still unconfirmed Video of federal officers chasing & assaulting medics tending to an unresponsive protester Video of 15 feds forcibly arresting a disabled trans person and taking away their service dog for the crime of writing on the federally owned sidewalk in washable sidewalk chalk
Full live tweet thread of the night (7/11/20) with a lot more video footage, especially of the absolutely ludicrous amounts of tear gas they used
sorry for the long post—i am not sure how much national coverage this is getting and i really want people to know what’s going on here. they are behaving like an occupying army & treating citizens like enemy combatants
Supporting black lives matter (or not) is not a question of politics or political beliefs. It is a question of valuing human lives. If you choose not to stand with black people, your statement is that their life’s don’t matter or matter less than yours. It should absolutely never be considered a political stance to say people should not be murdered.
[Note: When J. Elliot refers to her being classed as one of ‘your people’ in relation to black people of color, it’s based on her reputation of being an outspoken, anti-racism ally].
- Jane Elliot on the Oprah Winfrey Show panel on racism in 1992.
White people get deeply offended hearing black people speak this truth, so maybe hearing Jane Elliot say it will cut through the white fragility: White people’s default setting is racism. Because America’s default setting is racism. That doesn’t mean they cannot unlearn it, but anti-Blackness is so ubiquitous in Western culture that unlearning racism is not something that just magically happens because you think you’re a good person. It’s not something you attain and then forget about. It’s a perishable skill.
Nobody becomes “not racist” by repeatedly declaring “But hey, I’M not racist” on social media. Becoming “not racist” is defined by conscious choice, coupled with actions—like listening to black people, calling out racism, and not saying or doing racist things—that prove you aren’t racist. Being “not racist” is something that needs to be worked on CONSTANTLY.
Twitter deleted her thread. Reblog to save it. #Love it!
A friend of mine posted this and tagged my old instagram account, asking me to share it. I figured sharing it here where I actually have a following, would be far better.
Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.
Stay safe Darling ones, and help others remain safe too.
Andrew Heney, owner of the Freeway autoshop, told a local CBS affiliate: “We had a security guard that was out front, because we had just had certain issues with people tagging and stuff like that.”
“And then the police came up, and they pulled their guns on him and he ran because he was scared, and they shot and killed him. He’s got a clean background and everything. There’s no reason.”
The sheriff’s department are claiming Andres Gyuardado had a gun but the autoshop owner and witness to the shooting says that’s absolutely not true he never carried a weapon and didn’t that night.
What’s even worse is that right after the shooting, the Store owner said the cops immediately destroyed all the surrounding security cameras, broke into the store, stole his DVR with the recordings, and then created an illegal warrant after doing all this.
The shop owner also states he never called the police and doesn’t understand because “There was no reason for them to be there.”

here’s an article about the original thread, including a transcription of the tweets & some context (May 28, 2019)
another article that goes more into the issue of water (May 28, 2019) (“The Havasupai Tribe has, in fact, voiced concerns about groundwater pumping near the Grand Canyon. In 2016, the tribe sued the city of Williams and other well owners, saying the drilling of more wells for resorts, developments, theme parks and uranium mines, among other businesses, increasingly threatens the tribe’s water. […] Duthie said those sorts of concerns shouldn’t hinder Stilo’s proposal for the hotel on Kotzin Ranch because the company wouldn’t use a well.”)
as of January 24, 2020, Stilo had submitted a “a revised proposal for roads and utility easements connecting to parcels of land they own that are surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest” (unanimously approved). opening these roads would require “some blasting.” as regards the groundwater:
Gitlin also worried that the new proposal did not adequately protect the area’s groundwater.
The proposal promises that commercial water needs — which during peak season, would be 275,000 gallons a day — would have to be hauled in by truck. It still allows “residential uses” to be met by pumping groundwater.
In the proposal, Stilo offered to agree to a “complete prohibition” on commercial groundwater use, except in the event of “technological breakthroughs resulting in proven zero-impact upon groundwater resources.”
It suggested a restrictive covenant or a conservation easement to enforce that restriction, but it’s not clear who would be responsible for that enforcement.
effectively, plans for development are going forward, & previous reassurances that no immediate proposals were being made seem like lies.
it’s worth mentioning in light of some other comments going around that the issue here isn’t preserving the untouched pristine beauty of nature or something–this kind of terra nullius-inflected rhetoric in fact relies upon colonialist & genocidal logic–but rather the responsibilities & livelihoods of the people who belong to the land & stand to be harmed by these proposals.
incidentally, the Havasupai Tribe have a COVID-19 relief fund that you can donate to here, in addition to emailing & calling the people listed above.
Please be careful of what kind of information you are spreading

Literally just don't talk to the cops if they arrest you, do not do not do not explain your side of the story, it doesn't matter what you say, you won't be calm, you won't have a clear head, you will fuck up and say something that can incriminate you. You have the right to plead the fifth amendment. even if you are innocent of a crime, because if it's something that could result in your conviction, you have the right to plead the fifth.
So if you're falsely accused, or guilty and you just don't want to go to jail, plead the fifth to the police. You talking means they can extrapolate whatever they want from you and leave out what they don't, and convict you. Any and every lawyer will tell you this. Some ex-cops will even tell you this
It’s worth noting you do have to explicitly invoke your right to remain silent, because the legal system is horrible. If you don’t explicitly invoke your right to remain silent, your silence in response to questions can actually be cited in court of law as evidence of guilt.
You generally shouldn’t talk to cops at all, but you general script here is “Am I under arrest/being detained?”. If they answer yes, you have to say “I’m invoking my right to a publicly provided lawyer, and my right to remain silent.” (something similar to that, but try to keep it relatively formal, cops have argued before that incorrect phrasing means the right didn’t apply. See the “lawyer dog” case). And then you have to remain silent. If you talk at all, you’ve waived your right to remain silent, and you must reinvoke it when you’re done talking for it to apply. Cops are sneaky bastards and will try to get you to talk with friendly conversation or small things, don’t fall for it. If necessary, repeat “I have invoked my right to remain silent”. If you’ve invoked your right against self-incrimination, cops are not legally allowed to use your silence as evidence or suggestion of guilt in a court of law, and your publicly provided lawyer will know this. Also, no matter how under-funded and shit public lawyers can be, you do want yours.
It’s worth noting that the right to remain silent and the fifth are kind of distinct in practice. Your right to remain silent/non-incrimination applies in police custody. As a further note to that, cops will often ask questions to people not in custody specifically so they don’t have to deal with those rights- the correct answer to this is to not talk to cops. Never talk to a cop unless you’re detained, and then only to invoke your right to silence. The Fifth is invoked in court, and is the right to refuse to testify during your own trial. It’s invoked unconditionally- if you refuse to testify against yourself, you can’t testify for yourself. You can’t be a witness at all. If you testify for yourself, the prosecution can ask you whatever they want, and you do have to answer.
TLDR: America’s legal system is full of weird loopholes because cops are tricky bastards that can and will argue any absurd thing if it means they can put more people in prison. Don’t get tripped up by them.
here’s a law lecturer explaining why you should never talk to cops. basic summary: don’t talk to cops. if you do talk to cops, and they mishear/misunderstand/misremember you, it becomes their word against yours in court and you will lose. if you make even one tiny mistake while talking to the cops, it can invalidate everything else you say. ASK FOR A LAWYER AND INVOKE YOUR RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.
I’m sick of seeing posts about Yemen that don’t mention the source of the crisis. There is a REASON why there is a famine going on and most of the infrastructure for clean water, housing, medical care, etc has been destroyed. The reason being that Saudi Arabia, with United States support, “intervened” in the Yemeni civil war after the Houthi movement ousted the former president following the Arab Spring. The famine didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the result of a naval blockade. The lack of clean water, healthcare, and housing didn’t come out of nowhere either. The country’s infrastructure was bombed to bits because Saudi Arabia and a coalition of eight other Sunni-majority states, with logistical support from the US, UK and France, are treating this as a proxy war with Iran which, like the Houthis, is Shia. This is genocide. It is intentional. They are TRYING to kill the Yemenis.
