Project 2025 ain't gonna roll out all at once. So what we're gonna wanna do is make passing each individual part of it as difficult as possible, so there's less to undo once we finally get this country back on the rails.

Resist every step and do not get distracted by stupid bullshit. Distracting people with stupid bullshit is one of Trump's favorite political techniques. We saw it all over the place in the first term.

Trump will say something like "You know the Hispanics actually punch kittens, it's what they do."

And the news will be like "TRUMP SAID HISPANIC PEOPLE PUNCH KITTENS" for three weeks.

And while they're doing that the Republicans in Congress have quietly deleted healthcare.

Do not get distracted by stupid bullshit. Trump is a dancing monkey whose greatest asset is the ability to yank the spotlight off of everyone else. Keep your eyes on Congress.

and keep your eyes on your state government as well, because even if they PASS project 2025 bullshit it may not have actually come with MONEY to implement it. So they're just gonna be "ah yes, we'll enact this Unfundeed Mandate and make the states deal with it!"

make sure the state comes back and says "yes, and where's my money for that. We already passed this year's budget and there's no money for that."

even if the fed does cough up the money for it, it still takes time to do so and disperse the money. Which just means its that much longer before anything gets implemented.

Repeat at local level for further delay. Gee sorry, you didn't give us any money to hire people to do this. Gonna have to wait til next budget cycle.

also in local elections in town where you CAN vote on the budget, keep an eye out for the meeting where the board of finance proposes a budget. BEFORE it goes to a vote. That's when it can still be edited. Oh hey, what's this money for? oh we can't afford that. Motion to remove that from budget. Oops, darn, sorry, fascism will have to wait til next year! It would be fiscally irresponsible to spend that money when SURELY the state or fed will be along shortly with grant money :) :) :)

Reminder that humans are also a part of nature. We are not some outsiders looking into this world - we are a part of the world. We evolved alongside every other creature and plant on this planet, we are no better and no worse than them, we just are.

Attention Pennsylvania voters!

Senator Bob Casey’s race is now at a margin of 0.53%.

An automatic recount in PA is triggered with a margin of 0.5%. That’s a difference of 0.03% or a little over 2,000 votes. We need to make sure every ballot is counted here, and there’s thousands of uncounted ballots right now due to voter error.

Did you mail in a ballot? Check to see it was accepted here:

If it says anything other than accepted/counted/etc, your ballot needs your attention. A mistake in filling it out means that your ballot will not count unless you “cure” it. Check your county’s curing policies:

See full instructions for curing by county here.

You have until November 12 to cure your ballot in PA.

Do you know someone who mailed in a PA ballot? Please pass these links on to them. You may be the difference between their vote counting or not in a super close race.

Everyone else, you can help PA voters cure their ballots. If you live in Pennsylvania, you can help canvass in your county (see links in this thread). If you are in another state, you can sign up to call voters and help them cure by phone.

Want to help another state? Sign up for a shift through November 19.

Endangered Species Sightings from This Year

This is thought to be the first time in over 20 years that a blue whale was spotted off the Coast of Massachusetts.

I highly recommend watching the video and listening to the reaction of the people on the whale watching boat--the cheers and emotion in some of their voices, especially the woman saying "I'm trying not to" when someone jokingly tells her not to cry.

This is the first time ever that a mother clouded leopard with two cubs has been spotted on a game cam!

"After being considered regionally extinct for over a century, giant anteaters have been spotted roaming once again in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. Scientists have concluded these returned natives ventured over from Argentina's Ibera Park, where conservationists have released around 110 rescued and captive-bred anteaters since 2007."

Over 100 years and the anteaters are finally coming home!

Do you play daily NY Times games like Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee, or Strands? The NYT Tech Guild workers who make those games possible are currently ON STRIKE and asking you to not cross the digital picket line.

Spread the word! For other ways to help, you can also contribute to their strike fund here.

I told my boyfriend, who plays these!

What Joe Biden and Kamala Harris did in 2024.

I started this project back in January and for most of a year, every week, I came up with the highlights of what the Biden-Harris Administration did. I did it because it felt to me our media and national conversion was broken, our government was doing huge things that it felt like almost no one knew about. It's amazing how often I struggled to find a single news source that wanted to cover a huge life changing project.

This is the last Friday before Election Day, and if you haven't already voted, take a minute to go back and look at the last 40 weeks, and decide, do you like these things or want literally the reverse on every issue.

Feel free to reblog this or go back and reblog a favorite, one that impacts your life or the one from the week of your birthday, whatever.

and remember to read past the headlines and dig to find out what your government is up to, it might shock you how much is happening that no one talks about.

not gonna lie kudzu has shot up to the top of my list of favorite plants so fast. she's such a bad bitch.

"but it devours everything in its path committing ecological atrocities" god forbid women do anything

kudzu is the most aggressive and indestructible plant around and that's WHY its so important to research her usefulness as a sustainable resource!!!

banging pots and pans yelling about how kudzu has been used for textiles, paper, food, and medicine for at least 6,000 years in china and over 2,000 years in japan and has been argued to be "quasi-domesticated" by some scientists

All parts of kudzu can and should be harvested all year round in north america, due to the severity of the invasiveness issue. However, certain parts have better results in certain seasons, which I have marked below.

Kudzu root (winter harvest) use cases include:

  • ASSISTING in the treatment of alcohol withdrawal symptoms (ASK YOUR DOCTOR FIRST)
  • A roasted vegetable to mix with your carrots and potatoes
  • A mashed vegetable with cream/butter/fat, garlic, and/or gravy
  • A soup vegetable with broth, other veg, and/or meat
  • Mashed in broth until porridge, which is nice for sick people, very easy to digest and unobtrusive in flavour
  • A pickle with vinegar (rice or white), sugar, and chili flakes (finely sliced or grated)
  • A thickening powder for soups and gravies (dried and ground)
  • A dry shampoo (dried and ground, then sifted to remove the woody parts)

Kudzu Leaf (spring harvest) use cases include:

  • Steamed or boiled leaf vegetable (Young, tender leaves only)
  • "Cooked" in lemon juice then used for salad or sandwich (Young, tender leaves only)
  • Fry with onions then mix with eggs in a scramble, omelette or quiche (young, tender leaves only)
  • Baking parchment, especially good for fish IMO (clean and fresh older leaves, layered about 3 thick; fresh leaves are safe even on open flame; good for campers!)
  • Forage for chickens (any leaves, but only the leaves! Chickens won't eat the vine, which can then root and grow in your coop invasively)

Kudzu Blossom (Summer harvest) uses include:

  • Flavouring for syrup or honey, which is then really nice in tea, water, or soda water
  • Boiled and crystalized in sugar for candy or a cake decoration
  • Fermented in sugar water to produce vinegar (the flowers are pretty yeasty, like cabbage and grape, so they ferment quickly once sugar is available)
  • Fermented in sugar water with wine yeast, to produce wine
  • Fermented with honey for a surprisingly grape soda like mead experience

Kudzu Vine (autumn harvest) uses include:

  • Stripped to fiber to make a thread or yarn and used accordingly (it's very shiny)
  • Shredded, mulched, or mown, it is excellent forage for sheep, rabbits, and goats, especially goats, goats love this stuff
  • Train your goats to become kudzu predators then rent them out as an extermination force

Kudzu Seeds and Pods/Beans are TOXIC!! DO NOT EAT THEM! (they're safe to touch, just wash your hands after). Honestly I hesitate to call the beans "useful" in any way, given the invasiveness of the plant. You could maybe dry them up and use them for art or something? But no one in north america should need to make seedlings, you know? If you want a kudzu seedling like... walk near any vertical growth of kudzu and you'll find the seedlings!!
