Why are so many fans so mean to their idols? I don’t get this whole idea of wanting to possess your idol. Like… would I like to be Ok Taecyeon’s fiancee? Sure, that’s valid. Would I prioritize his safety, health and happiness, far above my ever even meeting him in person? Of course. This is somebody I care for. I don’t understand fans who can think any other way.

Sadly, a lot of fans don’t actually care for the well-being of idols they claim they love.

In essence, it’s an abusive relationship, and the message certain fans have for their idols is this:

“I love you more than anything in the world. I would die for you and will threaten to kill myself if you do something I don’t like, or speak out against me. I’ll shower you with gifts and spend all my money on you -- so if you don’t behave the way I want, I will have the right to treat you as terribly as I want. I’m giving you all my money, so you have no right to speak out against me: I made you. I’m devoting so much time and energy to you that not doing what I want is a slap in the face and you deserve whatever punishment I see fit to give you. I love you, but don’t cross me, or upset me in any way, otherwise, you’re worthless and don’t deserve a singe drop of happiness.”

Dear every fandom under the sun: dating is not a scandal. Hiding a relationship is not a poor reflection on the idol -- it's a poor reflection on the fans, because they've already proven they can't handle real life. If anyone's betraying anyone, it's the fans betraying the idols by acting like such self-righteous malcontents. Those who tell idols they need to be more accountable for their words and actions need to look in the mirror and have some personal accountability. Yes, I'm talking to YOU. Yes, I'm talking about YOUR idol -- only, they're not actually "yours," and you need to fucking understand that. Good bye.

There are one or two real assholes answering this question.

If the OP is very young or isn't an American citizen, and doesn't know the laws, then it's a legitimate question & you don't have to be a sarcastic, unhelpful bitch about it.

To ANSWER the fucking question: anyone can be treated in the US, not just citizens. Not gonna lie though, nothing comes cheap here. But after they are discharged, its up to the individual then to know the laws of their own country and whether they can have that particular medication.

Was it a stupid move, and should her company have not allowed it? Yes. But telling an 18-year-old girl to die and to go kill herself because of any song, however rude, is sickening, and the people doing it need to get off the internet and look at their lives.

So maybe you're a big fan of Bom. Should you ever get the chance to meet Park Bom, I wonder how much she'd like you if you went up to her and said, "I'm a big fan, so I told Kemy  to suck a dick and to kill herself! Aren't you proud of me?"

You gotta love I-Fans for not bothering to do their research and whipping themselves into a frenzy. The incident has already been explained to the Korean public. I didn't even know who Kemy was, and have never had anything against Bom, but that didn't stop me from at least trying to understand the situation.

She did not "release a dis track" officially, just to insult a senior and gain notoriety. She entered it into a rap  competition with approval from the company she was under at the time:

http://www.allkpop.com/article/2014/08/exclusive-akors-agency-speaks-up-about-controversy-surrounding-kemys-diss-track

For those who are too lazy to click a link:

The agency said, "It was only a diss track meant for submission into a rap competition, nothing more and nothing less, which is why we have remained quiet on the topic. However, as an 18-year-old girl is in great shock over all this, we will finish this week's set schedule and then wrap up promotions."

There was nothing "shady" about it -- but I don't suppose you really care about minor details like that, do you, O.P.?

K-pop is all about image...do you really think a company would approve anything they thought would put one of their products (yes, products) in an unfavorable light?

If there's anyone you need to blame, it's her company. They're the ones who approved it.

For those who say. "Well, she should have just known better!" go ahead and cast the first stone, because it's obvious you are divine beacons of perfection who've never made a mistake, or stepped on anyone's toes, or tried anything with an uncertain outcome, and must obviously shit rainbows smelling of roses.... don't get a nosebleed, living way up there.

And to the people sending this young girl death threats? You're salty as fuck and need to look at your life.

When you only "know" someone through glossy magazines, scripted television, radio programs, stage performances and airbrushed photo shoots, it's easy to believe -- or claim -- that someone is "flawless"

I don't know how many thousands of times this has been discussed, but people still seem to need to be reminded that these "idols" are mere human beings who happen to have jobs that put them in the public eye.

We don't own these people.

These people don't owe us anything.

Get over the fact that they are human, that they have off days, that they are going to date and, yes, they are going to do things lovers do with their boyfriends/girlfriends -- yeah, even your own precious, pristine idol.

Since when did never dating/never touching alcohol/never having a bad day/ect equate to perfection anyway?

I am both annoyed at and feel pity toward those who honestly think their OTP is real....

I’m not talking about everyone, naturally. I’m not talking about every single hardcore shipper out there either, because there are people who are head-over-heels in love with two members being cute together, but still understand that, even as close friends, they‘re still only doing it because they know it drives the girls crazy.

I'm not even talking about the fans who make a game out of dissecting all of the possible "evidence" and “signs” and like to build a case for why their OTP of choice is real, because in reality, they understand that they do not and probably will never know, their biases on a personal level. I'm not talking about these level-headed people who enjoy shipping just because it's fun and part of the fandom.

I’m talking about the fans who become absolutely enraged when other people say their OTP isn’t real. The people who turn an entirely blind eye to the fact that they have never and probably will never meet the two people in their OTP, and still believe that they know something everyone else doesn’t: that their OTP, in real life, are secretly flaming homos for each other; that no other OTP is allowed to exist, and that by either half of their sacred OTP saying they liked a girl/dated a girl, it’s all in their valiant attempts at hiding the truth of their OTP’s true love.

They will swear up and down that their OTP is absolutely real, attack anyone that “comes between them,” and attack those that ship other OTPs -- even if that OTP has nothing to do with THEIR OTP, simply because it’s a “crack ship” or not “real” enough.

Honey, I have some news for you: until your One True Pairing comes out of the closet, and states that they are in a romantic relationship with each other, your OTP is no more “real” than the crackiest of crack ships.

A close friendship is NOT evidence of a real-life romantic couple.

Sharing a room is NOT evidence of a real-life romantic couple.

Sharing clothes/jewelry is NOT evidence of a real-life romantic couple.

Doing copious skinship is NOT evidence of a real-life romantic couple.

Playing along with the idea of being an OTP because they know the fans like it is STILL NOT evidence of a real-life romantic couple.

And yet there are people out there who think they know their idols like the back of their hand and will attack anyone under the sun who says otherwise.

For a long time, I didn’t think people like this existed, because I believed no one could possibly be so deluded as to truly think they knew ass from elbow about two people they’ve never met. We can be the hardest of hardcore fans, but ultimately, we will always be, on many levels, an outsider to the personal lives of the people we idolize -- and this is only as it should be.

Being entirely convinced that their OTP is gay/lesbian for each other is one thing, and it is truly sad. But then there exists another level of this deluded group that will actively  attack ANYONE even remotely romantically linked to one half of their OTP. They will stalk the alleged romantic link, throw things at them, crash their fan pages, their official fan sites, and their Twitters, saying in all caps to stay the fuck away from (insert one half of OTP here) because they belong to (insert other half of OTP here). It would be fine if they kept their delusions to themselves and on their own Tumblrs/LiveJournals/Whatevers, but they can’t.

The majority of these kinds of fans are really young and immature, but what difference should that make, really, when they are even capable of believing such things based on zero romantic evidence? What’s going to happen to them when their One True Paring proves that they never have and never will have the hots for each other and get girlfeiends/boyfriends, who they will eventually marry? What are they going to do with themselves and all of those days, months, and years of convincing themselves of something entirely false? What is wrong with people like this?

I guess we’ll only find out when it happens.

And the crazy thing about this long, rambling post is that it will do absolutely nothing to enlighten the people it’s actually addressing. Should they bother to read it at all, they will look at it, shrug, and state, “She’s not talking about me -- because my OTP really is real. And here’s why….”

Avatar

Rumors are everywhere, and most of them aren't true. Still, that doesn't change the fact that 98% of all idols (yes, probably even your bias) at some point did have, do have, and will have girlfriends/boyfriends. Cling desperately to the idea that your beloved idol is in that snowy-white 2% if you have to, but when he/she proves that, no, your OTP is actually NOT gay for each other, and that they have no intention of staying alone forever, at least be civilized. Don't flip your shit and attack when they do finally reveal that they are in a relationship. They deserve their private life and they deserve happiness.

Henry/Park Bom: Dweeb

Part of the 10 Sentence Story Henry/Other Idol “WTF Pairing” Series

Title: Dweeb

Pairing: Henry/Park Bom

Rating: G

Requested By: Anonymous (sorry it took so long!)

                                              *****

Looking back, what Henry remembered and cherished the most was how she had gone completely out of her way to tell him he had done well.

Little feet pattered swiftly up behind him, and he heard a cheerful, “Hi Henry,” in accented English.

When he turned to see who it was, a bubble of some euphoric, silly emotion swelled in Henry’s chest, and he knew he was grinning stupidly, but couldn’t make himself stop.

Forgiving his inability to respond, Bom smiled, crinkling her nose, and asked, “Do you know me?”

“Yes,” Henry croaked. He knew his teeth were becoming dry from smiling, and was afraid his lips would stick to his teeth if he stopped, so he just kept grinning…like an absolute fool.

Seeing he wasn’t going to say anything further, she giggled, and said, “I just wanted to say that I saw your performance on TV, and wanted to tell you that you were really good!”

A thumbs-up, another smiling nose crinkle, and Bom sped away, back to her manager waiting at the door. Once she had left, a number of cool and witty things to say came to Henry’s head, and his smile fell the way one dropped something heavy they had been carrying for too long. Could he have been a bigger dweeb?

can u write fanfic about henli&park bom? I think they're so cute together ^___^

You know what, I think Henry and Bom are cute together too!

The only thing is, I don't know a lot about Bom's personality, and I know it's only fanfiction, but I try keep from going too completely OOC, so bigger fans of hers don't have a WTF moment when they read it.

HOWEVER, I've never done a Het fic before, and I will definitely give HenBom a shot! I will put it on the list for my 10 Sentence series.

Only jealous, ugly girls hate on SNSD because they know they could never be like them. When i look at SNSD i don’t think, “oh, they’re too skinny and they’re so fake.” I think “wow, they’re gorgeous and they inspire me to work out and lose weight.” Not only them, but their music makes me feel confident, sexy, cute, feminine, and like a badass all at the same time (depending on the song). When i dance to OH! i feel like the cutest ‘cheerleader’ in the world (lol) and when i dance to The Boys, i feel so ‘in charge’. The reason so many blackjacks hate on SNSD’s looks is because 2NE1 is not considered a pretty group and no one wants to look them.

I'm not even a Blackjack and I think you're stupid for bringing them up. Who cares about what you think you look at/listen to SNSD?

Maybe you should listen to The Boys more: perhaps if you felt more "in charge" you wouldn't be stooping to take cheap shots at another group or their fans.

I doubt the girls would want a fan like you.

Would you ever do a Het fanfic?

Mmmm. I guess I would, if someone asked for it. I don't find myself drawn to too many het pairings, but I can't say that I'm against them.

Part of that might be because I'm not familiar with too many of the personalities in girl groups. Like, I listen to a lot of SNSD and 2ne1, but I don't watch a lot of their interviews or shows, so I'm not too familiar with their characters.

I know it's just fanfiction, but I'm never totally okay with writing any thing that's too blatantly OOC :p

this is a little embarrassing, but I looked at your blog all the way to the back to your first post -_- I love all your fan art, and I saw you had hyoyeon in one of them. really liked it! is it possible that you are a fan of snsd? Again, you do REALLY good fan art!

O.o

I'm genuinely surprised by this question. First, I'm glad you like my fan art and am flattered that you went all the way back to my first post :3

But you caught me. In my K-pop collection, after the massive amount of Super Junior songs I have, the second largest number of songs do belong to SNSD, followed by Big Bang, 2NE1, and then probably TRAX, among a trailing string of other groups, male and female.

Also, IF by springing that snsd question on me, sandwiched between two mentions of liking my fan art means that you're hinting at something, I have some news: I DO have some SNSD fan art, and I may very well post them now and again.

After that long, rambling post, you can conclude that I am a fan of SNSD :p
