Hey @five-rivers, happy truce! I decided to go with your prompt about danny attending a cultural ritual or event, and themed it around the far frozen. My explanation for it got a little longwinded so I've included it under a read more, along with a little extra art!

Quiet place DannyMay Day 9: Ghost Zone
This was made a while ago, but I didn't want to post it here until I had gotten this done first. You know those killer brine pools at the bottom of the ocean, the ones that murder anything that tries to swim in them? The idea is that this is a picture of Danny swimming into the Ghost Zone equivalent of those.
He's a halfa, so he can endure damage in a way neither humans nor ghosts really can, and who knows? Maybe he'll find something to make the risk worth it.
Temple of Clockwork, Dora’s Domain. In order to display gratitude for time moving forward in their kingdom again, Dora builds a temple to the mythical ghost-god Clockwork at the edge of her kingdom, where all may come to pay their respects.
Danny... er, gently tries to tell Dora that Clockwork’s domain is actually only two zones away from hers, down and slightly to the left. He has so far been unsuccessful.
Clockwork, meanwhile, thinks this whole thing is hilarious.

I broke and did a physical painting today instead of a digital one, I just wanted to use gouache some more. Also whoever said green and magenta are the ghost zone colors? I love you but I hate you why did you do this? These colors arnt usually put together for a reason there's no inbetween. V cursed

Small headcannon, the ghost zone is sentient and actively choose to save Danny
I really like the idea of the GZ being primarily filled with non-humanoids - creatures that were born there, lived there, and had their life cycles in the Ghost Zone. I like the idea that only humans/humanoids would call it the Ghost Zone - that it’s an in-between place where souls can end up if they got lost when trying to pass on - but it was primarily a universe spawned from the leftover scraps of reality. It doesn’t adhere to any laws or orders but its own. (and its own law says: live. By any means, through any twisted process, find life) I like the idea that humans are not the dominant creatures of this world. It’s too large - too monstrous - to be conquered. Find a corner. Build a door. Raise your fences. Pray that the rest of this strange dimension finds you uninteresting - that it doesn’t identify you as ‘other’. ‘Real world’ items are unwelcome because they are interesting
In case the fact that I’m doing 4 of these when I already have multiple parts of this discussion didn’t tip you off, I have a lot of thoughts about the ghost zone. I’ll probably talk more about it in the future, but I’ll do my best to sum things up in these posts.
As of episode 8, we’ve gotten a look at 2 detailed ghost lairs, so here are just some of my thoughts on how lairs work. I’d like to emphasize that these are just my personal headcanons, and you absolutely don’t have to agree with me.
