Happy Lunar New Year and Year of the Dragon!
(Sorry for being two days late, I am just about recovered from my food coma caused by eating so many rice based foods, but luckily CNY lasts for two weeks. So that's plenty of time for me to eat even more rice and dumplings!)

I've heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan. You stole your father's armor, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, deceived your commanding officer, dishonored the Chinese Army, destroyed my palace...and you have saved us all.

Late night unpopular opinion: It bugs me when people say that Shan Yu from Mulan is a bad villain, and I think a lot of people feel that way because they want all their villains as sassy, quippy or dramatic. Especially because the movie is less about him as the obstacle and more about Mulan proving herself as being capable.
But also the fact that people see him as boring just because he isn’t flamboyant Disney villain number 358. And look, I LOVE Disney villains that do fall in those categories; Hades and Dr Facilier are my all time favorites up there. But saying Shan Yu is a bad villain because he’s not singing a musical number or making sarcastic jokes is probably one of my least favorite classic Disney takes.
