Thinking about Sam and Cas learning each other's boundaries with touch. Cas being incredibly hesitant at first and Sam being the one who pats Cas on the back. Sam's the one who reaches out for the angel for comfort, despite the voice in his head that tells him he's doesn't deserve it. He knows he doesn't but he's not known for being a Saint. Meanwhile, Cas is mirroring all the pats Sam gives, the squeezes of reassurance. Cas is more than happy to have an excuse to touch Sam even if it's brief, because while Sam is often close, it's not enough to simply see him. Not anymore, Sam's warmth is something they craved. More times than not Cas finds themselves reaching out towards Sam without thought and it's difficult to find a reason not to. Sam had wanted to hug Cas on more than one occasion but couldn't for the longest time. Cas didn't believe they were ever going to be allowed to hug Sam and they thought they were okay with that until Sam did hug them. Now Cas couldn't help but linger after every hug, Sam noticed after the first few times. Thinking it was how Cas hugged until he saw them hug someone else. So what if Sam found more excuses to hug Cas after that, he wasn't the only one, Cas did too. Finding any and every excuse to hold onto one another, sitting, standing close, healing one another. Experiments. All of it to fill the need that the other completes.
