What do you think of the Sastiel dynamic? (Platonically, since you're a Destiel shipper, right? I just love your takes on Cas.)

I'm a multishipper, so I also ship Sastiel! The Sastiel corner of the fandom is one of my favorite parts of fandom because comparatively, it's so chill. We do have to deal with antis because they are everywhere, but I love my Sastiel friends and how positive most of them are.

Since this is a nonshipping blog, I'll talk about what I love most about their platonic relationship: the trust and understanding they have in each other. I think that Sam gets Castiel more than Dean does. He suspected that Castiel was off in seasons 6 and 12 before Dean. He was also the first to forgive Castiel in s7, even though Castiel directly harmed him by breaking his wall.

In s11, Sam understands why Castiel said Yes to Lucifer and asks that Dean respect Castiel's choice. I know that some anti-Sam people don't like that Sam calls Castiel's vessel an "it", but Dean had not experienced possession at that point. Sam recognizes that Castiel is not his vessel. The vessel is an "it" since the angel is not their vessel. I feel that Dean sees Castiel as more human than angel, while Sam sees Castiel as more angel than human. I think this allows Sam to better understand Castiel.

In s12, Dean insists that Castiel must be brainwashed by Jack. He can't imagine that Castiel would've "attacked" them or chosen Jack of his own free will. He doesn't respect Castiel's decisions when it comes to Jack and how to deal with Jack. I believe that Sam decided to take care of Jack because of Castiel. He trusted in Castiel's belief in Jack and, although he wasn't happy about being knocked unconscious and left behind, he respected Castiel's choices and decisions.

Likewise, when Dean is fighting with Sam, Castiel supports them finding a way back to each other. I love it when he insists on bringing Sam to Dean in s8 and tells them both to stow their crap. In s10, Dean asks Castiel if Sam wants a divorce after Dean tried to kill Sam with a hammer and Castiel reminds Dean that Sam loves Dean and won't let a little thing like trying to kill the other get in the way. lol

Like Jack, Castiel goes from negatively judging and misunderstanding Sam to loving him and seeing his value in a world where other people call him an abomination. Castiel believed in Jack when the Winchesters did not. He believed in Sam at times when Dean struggled to.

So they have this beautifully supportive, accepting relationship with each other, but then they also do crazy insane things together, like probing Sam's God wound, nearly killing Sam. Or the whole soul-fisting thing, which Soulless allowed to happen, even though it was hurting him. Some of my favorite moments from the show are their adventures together because, while they are both so supportive of each other, they also are supportive of each other's bad decisions. Peace of Mind is a great example of that and one of my favorite episodes.
