Omg it just occurred to me that Dean died pretty much the same way Sam died the first time. The same death that Dean sold his soul to reverse, the death that started the dominoes falling. Getting stabbed in the back but instead of the quick spine lancing cut it was a dull impalment into probably a lung and grazing his heart. It's like Dean finally paid that debt and with interest. That's some sad ass shitty literary symmetry.
