Sam and Dean don’t find Jimmy Novak in time before the demons corner him. But it isn’t the demons who kill him.
After Jimmy’s death, Sam and Dean’s only connection to Castiel is through Claire Novak. A few years pass. When a 14-year old Claire has no place to go, Sam and Dean take her in and semi-retire from hunting. Thanks to Cas telling them about the Men of Letters Bunker during their first meeting with Claire, Sam and Dean can provide a more permanent home for her.
Shortly after her 18th birthday, Claire discovers an unnerving truth that she doesn’t think even Sam and Dean can handle. (4x20 “The Rapture” AU)
